As part of this topic, they have learned how to make an origami paper crane, which has become a symbol of peace in Japan. This was inspired by Sadako Sasaki, a 12 year old girl who died of leukaemia as a result of radiation exposure to the bomb. She believed that making one thousand paper cranes would make her well again. Here the students are proudly showing off their origami skills. Year 9 and 10 Mountain BikingMountain Biking for Years 9-10 sport started up again this term. The group has been making the most of our new set of school bikes to develop riding skills and fitness. The first session was a bit wet but everyone had fun exploring part of the Queens Lake trail. We plan to explore the mountain bike trails around Jolly Nose Mountain Bike Park and other local areas which will require some bus travel from school. If it’s too wet to go bush during any week, we’ll try to do riding skills activities at school. It is advisable that students bring appropriate cycling gear such as light clothing, comfortable sturdy shoes, light rain jacket if required, drink bottle/hydration pack etc. ![]() Show Team at Wingham Beef WeekThe Show Team have been busy this week at Wingham Beef Week, setting up camp and preparing the cattle.
