Kia ora,  

Guidance for advertising and marketing regulations, as well as guidance that covers other legislative matters such as fees, levies and duties has now been published.

This second phase of guidance released by the Department will provide more clarity and support potential online casino gambling providers to understand their obligations set out in the Online Casino Gambling Act, and the Online Casino Gambling Regulations 2026.

For providers who are successful at winning the right to apply for a licence at the auction, the detailed guidance should be used to inform the strategies that show you are willing and able to meet all the regulatory requirements as part of the licensing application process.

The testing requirements to be specified under Section 80(11) of the Online Casino Gambling Act are still being developed. We anticipate further information will be released ahead of the auction.

There is now more time to submit your questions

The opportunity to ask questions on GETS has been extended to Friday 7th  August 2026, 5.00pm NZST.

This is to allow those participating in the process time to review the latest guidance documents and ask any additional questions.

We will respond to all questions received before the new deadline by 5.00pm NZST on Tuesday, 11th  August 2026 via the GETS process.

As per our previous update, answers to questions asked that are relevant to all interested parties will be made publicly available in our next newsletter update.
