Cut out and keep career wheel of fortune
With the publication of our 2016 Salary and Benchmarker just round the corner we thought we would whet your appetite by giving you brief glimpse of the future.
We crunched through £173million of salary data and over 3,000 legal professionals completed our survey this year which we believe makes it the biggest of its kind and the most credible bit of insight produced for the sector.
32% of legal professionals will be moving jobs in the next 6 months - that could be over 42,000 Solicitors looking at pastures new. There was little change at the top in terms of career motivators with 24% of legal professionals moving jobs for reasons of progression...

Happiest Person in Legal
We are delighted to announce that this year's happiest person in legal is Lucy Atwill, a Solicitor and Partner who specialises in Private Client work at Devon and Cornwall based firm, Curtis Whiteford Crocker.
For the 4th year running - as part of the work we put into our annual Salary and Benefits Benchmarker - we analysed factors such as job, salary and benefits package sentiments as well as other triggers such as stickiness in their current role. Lucy came out on top and you can read an interview with her in this month's newsletter.
And another happy person in legal? Well that'd be Sarah Wilson, Associate at Addleshaw Goddard who won a £500 House of Fraser giftcard, just in time for Christmas.

What the price of oil could mean to legal
There seems to be plenty of noise now about the potential for the global economy being derailed by low oil prices. It seems a big price to pay for a few care free months cruising about on a full tank petrol but somewhere deep down in the economics of it is a crisis.
While the government retains its appetite for dismantling the legal sector the last thing we need now is another dip.
Douglas Scott Director Jonathan Nolan looks at what's driving it, why the world’s stock market are getting the jitters about it and what the impact could be on the legal sector.

Interview with Lucy Atwill - 2016's Happiest Person in Legal
This month we're interviewing Plymouth based Private Client Solicitor Lucy Atwill, Partner at Curtis Whiteford Crocker Solicitors.
As part of our Salary and Benefits benchmarking process Lucy has been identified as 2016's Happiest Person in Legal. And we wanted to find out what makes her so happy.
Lucy's story is a great example of law capturing someone's imagination early and then letting drive and determination do the rest. We are talking about someone who wanted to be a Solicitor from the age of 10 years old and was then made equity partner at the age of 30.
As you can imagine she is a busy lady but thankfully she gave up a bit of her time to share a piece of her story.
