Gainful Employment Rule DelayedThe Department of Education announced that the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for the Gainful Employment Rule will not be issued until April 2023. Upcoming: FY23 Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Bill Markup The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Services will hold a markup on FY23 Labor-HHS-Education appropriations bill this Thursday, June 23 at 5:30 pm. Reminder: Section 504 Public Comments Still Being AcceptedThe Office for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education is still gathering public input on possible amendments to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 in order to strengthen and protect the rights of students with disabilities. While no official deadline has been announced, the Department is encouraging all longer and more detailed comments be submitted by the end of June 2022. Reminder: Fourth Round of WORC GrantApplications are still being accepted for the fourth round of Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities (WORC) Initiative demonstration grants with an availability of up to $34 million. The WORC grants aim to create economic prosperity and gainful employment opportunities for eligible residents of the Appalachian and Delta regions, enabling them to remain and thrive in these communities. You may apply for a minimum award of $150,000 and a ceiling amount of up to $1,500,000. The deadline to apply is July 7, 2022. To view the full announcement click here.
