Today: Bring Back The Trades Skills Expo at VTSU Castleton Campus
The Bring Back the Trades Skills Expo, presented by F.W. Webb, is gearing up to be one of the most impactful trade-focused events in Vermont! About 2,200 students and teachers from nearly 40 schools plus community members pre-registered to attend. 72 businesses in the trade are set to provide hands-on experiences and career exploration opportunities for students, parents, and community
members alike. Over 30 large pieces of machinery will take part in the "Equipment Rodeo," a touch-a-truck for teenagers and adults. Ten $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to Vermont students. Brought to you by Title Sponsor F.W. Webb and in collaboration with the Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region (CEDRR) the event is hosted by Vermont State University Castleton Campus. The Skills Expo will take place today from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, offering a unique opportunity for students to explore high-demand, high-paying careers in the skilled trades. Governor Phil
Scott, Lt. Governor John Rodgers, and John Casella Sr. will speak to attendees during the event. Why This Event Matters With the “silver tsunami” of retirements looming, where five tradespeople retire for every two entering the workforce, the skills gap in the trades is more pressing than ever. The Bring Back the Trades Skills Expo provides a solution by exposing students to real career opportunities in fields such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical work, construction, welding, cosmetology, culinary and more—all through hands-on experiences and direct engagement with industry professionals. Event Highlights Interactive
Exhibits: Experience hands-on trade demonstrations from businesses eager to showcase their work and technologies. “It’s like touch-a-truck for teens and grown ups - there are so many amazing exhibits happening at the Vermont event - I can’t wait for the students, parents, and community members to see the creativity,” said Bring Back the Trades Executive Director Shana Brunye. Equipment & Tool Demos: See trade professionals in action, high tech industry tools, and learn about cutting-edge innovations. Industry Engagement: Network with professionals and potential employers looking to invest in the next generation of skilled workers. Scholarships &
Giveaways: Businesses are stepping up to provide scholarship opportunities, prizes, and giveaways to students pursuing careers in the trades. Click here for more information about Bring Back the Trades →

Killington has Embarked on a $5 Billion Makeover Designed to Rival Western US Resorts
The ski resort here, already Vermont's biggest with 800,000 skier visits annually, is on the cusp of an unprecedented investment by a Canadian company − as much as $5 billion over the next 20 years − designed to catapult Killington into the top ranks of ski resorts in North America and push skier visits over the 1 million mark annually. Toronto-based Great Gulf, one of the largest
homebuilders and real estate developers in North America, owns 1,000 acres of land at Killington, where it plans to build 2,300 residential units, from condominiums to townhomes, hotel rooms and single-family homes, called LiveKillington, dwarfing the scale of housing on any other resort in Vermont, or the Northeast. "It is a very large project at a very large mountain," said Michael Sneyd, Great Gulf's president of resort residential. "It will be the largest project of its kind in the Northeast by a long shot." Emergency Department at Rutland Regional Medical Center Receives Pediatric Readiness Innovator Award
On Tuesday, April 29, Rutland Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Department received the hospital’s first-ever Pediatric Readiness award, presented by Dr. David Nelson, a pediatric emergency physician at University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC) who leads Vermont’s program to improve pediatric emergency services for children. The Emergency Department at RRMC achieved the
Innovator level recognition, which is the highest standard of pediatric readiness. The award was presented to Emergency Department nurses, nurse leaders, clinical educators and physicians prior to a pediatric readiness training in the CVPS/Leahy Community Health Education Center at Rutland Regional Medical Center. The training courses are part of a state-wide initiative to improve pediatric emergency services. “The pediatric readiness trainings focus on simulated emergencies that enable participants to put their skills into practice while building confidence for real emergency situations,” said Dr. Nelson. “Today we are running these simulations with nurses because in real life, the nurses are often the first ones to see the patient before a provider steps in.” Read More → Read more in VermontBiz →

contemporary visual art from the permanent collection of NNEMoCA to be displayed in the common space of The Hub CoWorks. “The positive effects of being in the presence of original art are well known and provide many benefits to those having this exposure. Additionally, this artwork provides substantive enhancement to the environment within The Hub,” Mark Foley, President of MKF Properties and developer of The Hub CoWorks. “Our vision is to transform and enrich humanity through visual art and ideas. One of the most direct ways to begin accomplishing this is to create additional opportunities for art to be seen and to provide mechanisms for people to be in the presence of original visual art. This ‘completes the circuit’ which exists between the
artwork, its maker, and the viewer,” Mark S. Waskow, President of NNEMoCA. This program encapsulates NNEMoCA’s mission by providing long-term regional hubs to introduce the public to the museum’s resources. To discover more about NNEMoCA, visit www.nnemoca.org.
