Don't forget to join the Western community for some fantastic events and activities this week with a focus on diversity, intercultural learning and global perspectives. From keynote speakers to cultural experiences and opportunities to connect, International Week is full of options to learn, explore and have fun!

Join Western faculty, staff and students for a day of discussion about racial justice in global health. Featuring:

  • Keynote presented by Maaza Seyoum, Global South Convenor for the People's Vaccine Alliance: "Pandemic as Prism and Portal: A discussion on finally seeing the obvious and refusing to return to normal:
  • Roundtable discussion by four racial justice advocates who will talk about how change happens, what change is underway, and what more is needed to support racial justice within Canadian health landscapes.

Thursday, November 24, 4-6 pm in the Great Hall and via livestream on Zoom.

The Africa Institute will hold an engaging Roundtable on Canada-Africa Relations and Strategy, including Implications for the COP27 Agenda with London West MP Arielle Kayabaga, Nigerian Diplomat Mary Ozonwanji, University of Nairobi Human Ecology Researchers Dorothy Kyalo and Petronilla Kingi and Western’s Climate Change Researcher, Isaac Luginaah.

Western and visiting Queen Elizabeth Scholars and Global Health Systems graduate students will lead the discussion period.

If you're planning to host a visiting research only (VRO) student, join us for this upcoming session: Hosting VRO Students: Everything Supervisors Need to Know. 

The session will provide an overview of the VRO student program, immigration categories (e.g. Research Award Recipient, Self-funded Academic Researcher, Short-term [120-day] work permit exemption for researchers) and required documentation to proceed with an assessment and approval of your VRO student’s research visit at Western.

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A.
