Happy New Year, Department of Medicine!

Renal Medicine Interim Leadership Update

With the recent retirement of Jeff Sands, MD, Janice Lea, MD, will serve as the Interim Division Director for Renal Medicine, and Jeanie Park, MD, as the Interim Associate Division Director, effective January 2, 2024. The search for Dr. Sands’ permanent replacement will begin soon. More details will be provided as they become available.

Faculty Conversations is a biweekly series in which diverse leaders across the Woodruff Health Sciences Center and Emory Healthcare join Ravi I. Thadhani, MD, MPH, Executive Vice President for Health Affairs, Emory University, Executive Director, Woodruff Health Sciences Center, to discuss health system integration, nimble decision-making, community engagement, caregiver well-being, educating and training the next generation, research breakthroughs, transformative technology, and many other factors which directly affect our ability to deliver on our tripartite mission. Emory University King Week will take place from January 13–24, 2024. This week is a series of programs offered by various Emory units to honor the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights movement. Programs include educational lectures, spiritual events, community service projects, celebrations, and exhibits. View full event schedule

Celebrate MLK Day with the Churchwell
Diversity and Inclusion Collective (CDIC)

The CDIC is a resident-run organization born out of the desire to cultivate a safe and welcoming environment for Emory Internal Medicine Residency Program's house staff from diverse backgrounds. They aim to foster a culture of camaraderie, championing efforts within advocacy, recruitment/retention, and professional development, with the goal of building an inclusive resident body to better serve the greater Atlanta community.
