If you are attending SGIM 2023 in Colorado, join us for our reception (May 12, 6-7:30 pm, Cottonwood 2-3) honoring Associate Dean Stacy Higgins for her achievements in Emory resident and medical student education. ![]() ![]() AIM Center launching Sept 1 With funding from the Rollins Family Foundation, this Emory GIM academic internal medicine (AIM) center will expand the Seavey Clinic model to the Emory Midtown and 1525 Clifton faculty practices. The initial launch will include the designation of 14 additional Rollins Distinguished Clinicians and 2 Academic Site Leads, and provide an administrative infrastructure for support of all center faculty, initiatives, and projects. The AIM Center's goals include enhancement of career development and job satisfaction/retention for faculty and new opportunities for medical student and resident education. Evidence of our Excellence! ![]() Dr. Saria Hassan has been awarded $1,349,998 for her project to understand how the cumulative health impact of chemical and non-chemical exposures is exacerbated by climate change among the most vulnerable communities in Atlanta. Her lecture was titled "Climate Change and Health Equity: The Problem and Steps Forward. ![]() Dr. Ted Johnson received the 2023 Larry Zaroff Man of Good Conscience Award from the American Medical Women’s Association. This award is presented annually to a man who has been a champion of women in medicine. Weisfeldt Visiting Professorship in Diversity by the Johns Hopkins Department of Medicine. ![]() Dr. Mehul Tejani was featured in the April issue of the City of Decatur’s Focus Magazine as one of Decatur’s Climate Heroes. He serves on the steering committee for the Georgia Clinicians for Climate Action (GCCA), a state-level initiative of the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health, to mobilize and amplify the voice of health professionals and health organizations concerned about the impacts of climate change on Georgia residents. Learn more here. ![]() Dr. Tiffany Walker's proposal with Manoj Bhasin was selected for another WHSC COVID-19 CURE Award: Leveraging the power of multi-dimensional single-cell profiling for deep characterization of innate and adaptive immune dysregulations in post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 (PASC) at $249,761. Dr. Walker also presented Long COVID Diagnosis and Management at the International AIDS Society (IAS)-USA Atlanta Course in March. Dr. Walker will present a workshop titled What to Pack for the Long Haul: Necessities for Treating Long COVID at the Society of General Internal Medicine 2023 Annual Meeting in Colorado in May. She will also present Long-COVID: Definitions, Management, and Patient Perspective at the International AIDS Society (IAS)-USA-Virtual Symposium in July. ![]() Primary Care Ideation Challenge - Pass it on! The Emory Primary Care Ideation Challenge is set to launch on May 3! Using a contest format, the ideation challenge asks all frontline staff and providers within Emory Primary Care to propose innovative solutions. This year, we will ask for ideas related to three categories:
For example, what can we do to improve recruitment and our onboarding process? What can we do to improve work experience, job satisfaction, and employee engagement in Primary Care? And what can we do to improve workflow efficiency within our practices? The following frontline role groups will be invited to participate:
Afterward, participants will have a chance to vote on the ideas submitted. This process will determine the winners from each role group within each idea category. Each winner will win a prize of $100 and the runner-up will receive $50! We look forward to hearing great ideas from all frontline staff and providers in Emory Primary Care! This year's programming will focus on the Actionable Education Initiative (AEI), an educational portfolio designed to provide anti-racism resources, implicit bias education, bystander-to-upstander training, and history learning opportunities for our learners, faculty, and staff.
