The Business Wodonga Connection May 13th, 2022 No images? Click here Message from CEOHello Members. A Time to Grow What a fantastic event this was on Wednesday evening. Tash Callewaert spoke with such openness and passion of her journey in adult life, of becoming self-employed in her very early twenties and all the challenges she faced. Nearly having to go into administration, re-building herself and re-locating herself and her family from Melbourne to Wodonga to become operator of her fifth business Quest Wodonga. Then of course COVID19, which affected every hospitality business. Tash’s story was very much one of resilience, change and growth that brought tears to the eyes of some in the audience, because it was so personal, but also so uplifting. We have some images of the event, once Tara of Trewbella Photography curates all that she took, we will put a link in a future newsletter, so you may even see yourself there. New Hospital: Business Wodonga is an apolitical organisation so we don’t play or get involved in politics. We do however support causes that will lead to better outcomes for individuals and businesses in our community. Our present two hospital health service is overwhelmed and archaic. We need a new single site hospital not just for now, but for the next fifty years and more. A world class health service is something that we deserve, as the combined populations of Albury & Wodonga make us the twentieth largest city in Australia. Despite the best efforts of the people delivering health services to us, they are working with poor facilities, overcrowding and many other issues. Community lobby group “Better Border Health” have launched a campaign for Federal & State Governments (whatever their political persuasion) to work together and with our two cities community develop, fund and build a new health service. This Sunday they are holding a rally of support for this cause at Gateway Lakes at 11am and I encourage your attendance to help show support and sign their petition. We deserve better than we are getting! LUNCH MEETING: There is still time to book for a lovely complimentary lunch at the Valleys Restaurant at TAFE Wodonga, to learn all about Project Edge from our Sponsor, MONDO ENERGY. This is an opportunity for Wodonga businesses to find out how you can take part in a world class trial of bringing solar, battery and the grid together and at very little cost to you, with ongoing energy cost savings too! We do need to know numbers for catering purposes, so please register here before 9am Monday for Tuesday’s lunch: https://businesswodonga.com.au/events/members-lunch-meeting/ This also presents a training opportunity for TAFE Wodonga hospitality students to benefit from some on the job training in serving customers, so your attendance will be of value to the students of another of our wonderful Sponsors. Small Business Victoria Workshop next Wednesday “Taking your business online” is a free two- hour workshop focussing on empowering yourself with knowledge to help you operate in the digital environment, something that we all need to be part of in 2022 and beyond. This workshop is on next Wednesday and the City of Wodonga are making available a meeting room for this workshop and two others coming up in June. Please take advantage of this opportunity to develop your skillset. Face to Face personal development is back! https://businesswodonga.com.au/events/taking-your-business-online/ BUSINESS AFTER HOURS: Squad are hosting this month’s Business After Hours on May 25 at Michael & Stacey’s Church Street Hotel. Squad have achieved the major milestone of forty years in business and really want to celebrate with you. Book early to avoid disappointment is my advice to you, as the venue does have a capacity limit and we already have over thirty registrations. https://businesswodonga.com.au/events/business-after-hours-2/ I’ll leave you with this thought that I heard in a course on mental wellbeing that I am currently undertaking. “A cup of tea daily is worth more than an end of year party.” Be kind to yourself and those around you every day. It means a lot to them. -Graham New Member Spotlight![]() ![]() A mother and daughter dressmaking and design team, Maxcelle & Kate Hall come from a long line of dressmakers, milliners and tailors.
