The Four "Real Rutland Weekend Getaway" Families at Southside Steakhouse in Rutland.
September 22-25, four families from Manhattan, New York, Raleigh, North Carolina, Austin, Texas, and San Gabriel, California joined us in Vermont for a long weekend. The four families entered the "Real Rutland Weekend Getaway Giveaway" this summer, hosted by the Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region (CEDRR). After interviewing with a CEDRR staff member, the applicants who seemed the most interested about relocating to the area were selected. While they were here, the households went kayaking on the Chittenden Reservoir, took the gondola to the top of Killington, attended the Chili Cook-Off in Poultney, tasted
beers from our area at the Killington Brewfest, toured The MINT Makerspace in Rutland, got lost in the Hathaway Corn Maze, looked at properties with Sue Bishop, completed a County-Wide Scavenger hunt, and so much more! CEDRR hopes to make this an annual event, as a way to show people how wonderful it is to live, work, and play in our area.
The Rutland Airport Business Park Receives $489,746
The Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) has announced the funding of five projects under a Memorandum of Agreement signed between the NBRC and the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) to amplify both agencies’ economic development
impact in Northern Border communities. The NBRC has received a special appropriation since 2018 for these awards, which has resulted in working closely with the EDA to award funds to projects that meet the strategic objectives of both agencies. The total of the awards made in 2022 is $3,000,000. The Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region (CEDRR – a.k.a. Rutland Economic Development Corporation) received $400,000
for the Rutland Airport Business Park expansion project to extend the water infrastructure from Phase I of the Park to additional parcels that will make up Phase II. This project will create over 40 acres of prime developable real estate for manufacturing property inventory and will allow expansion of manufacturers and producers, creating high-quality jobs and benefitting all of Rutland County and surrounding areas. The NBRC also awarded this project an additional $89,746 as part of the Agency’s Economic & Infrastructure Development grant program, on August 18, 2022 Click here for more information →

Offering Services to the Public Once Again
Stafford Technical Center's Cosmetology program is hosting an Open House next Tuesday, September 27, from 10:00 AM to Noon. This is the first time the salon has been open to the public since the COVID-19 pandemic. At 10:30, students will talk about the services they offer at the salon. Mini-Services will also be available during the event plus complimentary consultations. The Open House serves as a way for the public to learn more about the services offered and as a way for the community to show its support for the students as they learn skills they can take forth with them after

The Feeling of Fall at The MINT
Let us pause to recognize the Autumnal equinox: a day of balance, a threshold between the hot (and dry) Summer and the crisp (and quite damp thus far) Autumn, a time of harvest and gratitude. At The MINT, we are seeking much of the same:
We are clearing out some of our spaces, seeking balance and efficiency and preparing for our upcoming Trailblazers course.
We are navigating the rain and our active parking lot construction with humor and gratitude.
We are preparing to harvest the mighty Cottonwood tree who stands at the western edge of our land. Thanks in advance to Trees Incorporated and the many hands who will help this harvest be honorable.
