A Call to Service for PHC Medical Staff

An exciting opportunity to represent our Medical Staff community & voice on the PHC MSA-PASS Executive

Medical staff are invited to join the combined Executive team of our Medical Staff Association and PHC Physicians & Surgeons Society (MSA-PASS).  

Three respected roles are open for nominations until April 30, 2026.

  • MSA-PASS President Elect
  • MSA-PASS VP Elect 
  • MSA-PASS Member at Large

Learn about these roles and express interest below by April 30.   Eligible members will be presented for election at the June, 2026 MSA Quarterly.

    • Advocate for day-to-day medical staff issues, needs and solutions e.g. non-MSP patient remuneration, new St. Paul’s Hospital, and many more priorities.

    • Be part of a dynamic, collegial group of physician and medical staff leaders collaborating with our partners at PHC and Doctors of BC.

      What's involved?

        Time Commitment 

        • Avg. of 3-4 meetings per month (4-6 hours) for members at large, held outside of clinical hours. The President attends more meetings with additional responsibilities.
           
        • Meeting examples: MSA-PHC PASS Executive, Engagement Working Group, PHC Medical Advisory Committee.
           
        • May also work on additional special projects, up to 10 hours a month.
           
        • An administrative support team helps support the work.

        Compensation: valuing your contributions 

        •  Meetings, plus up to 10 hours a month for extra activities, are reimbursed at Physician Master Agreement sessional rates.
           
        • Additional stipend for the individual in the elected President role.

        Roles

        President role

        • Call and preside at all meetings of the Medical Staff Association.
        • Serve as a voting member of the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC).
        •  Serve as a non-voting member of unassigned departments and committees/
        • Promote collegiality among members of the Medical Staff.
        • Foster effective engagement of the Medical Staff within PHC overall, and represent and advocate for the Medical Staff and its members.
        • Present passed resolutions to the MAC, and Report Medical Staff issues to the MAC and CEO and support follow-up.

        Vice President role 

        • ​​​​Fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the President in his/her absence, and/or as delegated by the President. 

        Member at Large role

        • Promote collegiality among members of the Medical Staff.
        • Promote effective engagement of Providence Medical Staff overall.
