Battle of the Bombay - this Saturday!

Best wishes to our 1–5 rep squad travelling to Te Aroha tomorrow for the Winter Quad, 'Battle of the Bombay'.

This popular fixture provides another valuable chance for our emerging players to test themselves against quality opposition while proudly representing Auckland. For many in the team, it's an opportunity to put their training into practice, gain representative experience and continue building confidence in a competitive environment.

To the players, enjoy the challenge, back your ability, trust the work you've put in and wear the Auckland colours with pride.

Safe travels and best wishes to the players, team officials and supporters making the trip.

Singapore heat, testing greens & great memories!

By Hannah Dawson

The Lion City Cup has been an awesome experience so far, and it's been great to test myself against players from around the world.

The biggest challenge has definitely been adjusting to the conditions. The Singapore heat takes some getting used to, and the greens are unlike anything we play on back home. They feel more like a hockey turf than carpet and are much slower, so every end is a workout as you really have to give the bowls a push! Thankfully, we're getting more comfortable with the pace every day.

One of the highlights has been meeting players from different countries and experiencing the fantastic atmosphere throughout the tournament.

A huge congrats to fellow Aucklander Adam Blucher and his partner Jordan Keene, who claimed the Men's U25 Pairs title. It's awesome to see Auckland represented so strongly on the international stage.

We're loving every minute of the experience and can't wait to see what the rest of the tournament has in store.

These finalists represent excellence both on and off the green, recognising outstanding performances, dedication to their clubs, and exceptional contributions to our sport.

Bowls brings generations together at Bucklands Beach

By Hannah Neville

Who says bowls is just for older people? Around 150 local tamariki recently discovered just how much fun our sport can be during a visit to Bucklands Beach Bowling Club.

Last week, club members were invited back to the school to see the students proudly present creative projects inspired by their bowls experience, including models, a puppet show and heartfelt thank you letters.

The smiles, enthusiasm and genuine connections on display were a wonderful reminder that bowls is a game for everyone, regardless of age.

Harrison goes the distance to claim PBA World Singles

By Daniel Chivers

Balmoral's Scott Harrison has produced one of the performances of the PBA Auckland qualifying series, battling through a marathon 10-hour day to win the World Singles title at Orewa.

Harrison defeated Dean Keven, Gary Cotter, Paul Daniels and Ryan Hill before meeting Stephen Campbell in a gripping final. Trailing by one shot with his last bowl and needing to count, Harrison delivered under immense pressure, drawing the shot to force – and then win – the tiebreak.

The victory earns Harrison Auckland's World Singles representative spot at the New Zealand Qualifiers in September, where he'll be chasing a place at the prestigious Potters World Championships in the UK.

Congratulations Scott on an outstanding achievement, and best of luck in the next stage of your PBA journey!
