Many community pharmacies in New South Wales offer compounding as a service to their customers. The increase in the amount and complexity of prescribed compounded medicines presents particular challenges in terms of maintaining public safety.
Researchers from the University of Canberra are currently investigating the scope of compounding services provided in pharmacies, the level of training of compounders, extent of compliance with current practice standards and the incentives for providing compounding services. The opinions of community pharmacists are important as these will help to shape the future of compounding in NSW.
Information is being gathered by survey and by a more in depth telephone interview with a researcher. Some pharmacies will have received a postal survey. If your pharmacy has not received a survey or if you prefer to participate in the online survey please click here.
If you want to discuss pharmacy compounding with a researcher, please contact Ms Louise Deeks via louise.deeks@canberra.edu.au. This telephone interview should last around 15 minutes. All responses are confidential and your comments will be de-identified in any reports or publications.
