Guidance for Investigators Leaving the University

Properly closing a research program can be complicated, and requires advance planning to avoid regulatory challenges.

Departing investigators must complete this online form as far in advance as possible. Completion of this form alerts the relevant University offices, which will be in contact to ensure that your research at the University is terminated appropriately.

Planning a Multi-Center Clinical Trial


Running a multi-center clinical trial is highly complex, as there are special challenges in managing activities at external sites.

Office of Trade Compliance to Launch New Training Series


The Office of Trade Compliance will launch a 12-part online training program that addresses Export Controls Fundamentals in the academic environment. Each session will last between 20-30 minutes with time for questions. The sessions will be recorded so Pitt community members can access them at any time.

The first installment of the series, "Introduction to Exports and University Activities that Intersect with Export Controls Regulations," will be presented on January 28, 2022 from 1 - 2 p.m. To learn more and register, click here

Sessions will be offered on a monthly basis. Although the content is appropriate for a general academic audience, most sessions will include direct application for the research community.  Questions may be directed to tradecompliance@pitt.edu

Workshop on Managing Controlled Substances


Managing controlled drugs in accordance with the Drug Enforcement Administration regulations is a challenge for many investigators. This workshop will provide guidance on how to purchase, secure, and dispose of controlled substances in accordance with these regulations and the University's Controlled Substance Guidelines.

The online workshop is scheduled for Monday, January 31 from 2 - 3 p.m.

William Klimstra Appointed IBC Chair
