CUSE Funding Competitions May 2023! Social Impact Challenge & Try It/Do It Fund Competitions Calling all students, entrepreneurs, and Dragon’s Den fans! Join us on Tuesday 23 May for ‘Enter the Dragon’s Den’, where 10 aspiring entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas to our panel of expert judges, battling it out to secure a share of £25,000 in start-up funding. With money on the line and just 10 minutes to make their case, who will come away with an investment? Key Note Speaker Confirmed: Jack Lowman Jack, a Coventry graduate, is founder and author of Hack Yourself, the future skills training company for the changing world of work. Jack will deliver a personal keynote talk full of stories, honesty and practical advice to unravel the highs and lows of trying to grow a business, and give his take on why taking big, brave decisions can make all the difference. The Social Impact Challenge 2023 Competition, funded by Coventry University as part of the Launch Programme. The Try It & Do It Fund Competitions are funded by Santander Universities UK and Coventry University as part of the Launch Programme. 2. Collaborate To Train 2023 Still Open Student Opportunity To Get Involved Our Collaborate To Train programme is still on, with more local SMEs joining up. This programme connects CU students with local SME's that might need to be assisted on a specific project/task by students at no cost to the SMEs. Short Case Study: Collaborate To Train Project Coventry Refuge and Migrant Centre, one of the early birds in our Collaboration to Train Project engaged students at the start of the project, and the students have used their skills to help the Centre to produce a professional, well designed and visually appealing Annual Report that vividly displays what successes the Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre has achieved in the past year. This also means the Centre has played a huge role in enabling students to gain work experience. Your organization/company can also be part of this worthwhile project. For more information about the project, get in touch with us at myidea@coventry.ac.uk Coventry University Students, Get Involved CU Students in marketing, business management, finance, Art and Design, ICT and media, this is an opportunity to expand on your current studies within the CU Group and gain valuable experience working alongside an SME. This will build up your potential for future employment. Take this as a Summer Work Experience Opportunity you should not miss. Don't miss out on an opportunity that does not come along often. 3. Have Your Say: Start-up Support Needs Survey Complete our Startup Support Needs Survey CUSE is conducting a short, voluntary survey on startup support needs to help shape our future services. Have your say! Use the link or QR code below to complete the survey. It is not a long survey, and will take only 2 minutes of your time to complete. 4. LAUNCH Training Cohort 36 & 37 Achievers In June and July 2023, we will be conducting our Launch Training Programme for Cohorts 36 and 37 respectively. Cohort 36 is an intensive in-person 4 day programme that will start on Thursday 8 June 2023, and finish on Sunday, 11 June 2023, stretching from 10.00am to 4.30pm. The venue will be communicated to successful applicants. Cohort 37 is also an intensive, but virtual/Online Training Programme that will start on Monday, 3 July 2023, and finish on Friday 7th of July 2023. Start time is 10.00am and finishes at 3.00 each of the five days. On the final day of our training, successful participants will not only get a certificate, but also an opportunity to pitch their business idea to mentorship experts who will then guide them accordingly. 5. Connect2 Project Connect2 is a project, based at CUSE that can offer you free one-to-one support towards starting your own business or social enterprise. You can also be supported to find work or further training. To be eligible for Connect2, you must be aged 16+, have the right to live and work in the UK, be unemployed or economically inactive (e.g. full-time study) and live in a CV1 – CV6 postcode. Please contact Steve on SCrump@cueltd.co.uk for more information and to register. 6. Enhancing Futures: 2023 Programme was a huge success The 2023 Enhancing Futures programme has come and gone! For those who made time, and attended our sessions, it was a great honor to share ideas with you. CUSE delivered the following five sessions in this year's programme: * 3rd May 15:00 - 16:00 * 4th May 15:00 - 16:30 * 9th May 11:00 - 12:30 * 10th May 11:00 - 12:00 * 10th May 13:00 14:30 We had a great time with those who managed to attend the sessions above. A lot of ideas and personal development tools were shared, and it is our hope that you enjoyed the sessions as much as we did. We are looking forward to see more students in the programme next year 7.
