For more information on our work visit our website or follow us on X @NCSEM_PAnews Topping out ceremony celebrates milestone achievement for National Rehabilitation CentreA significant milestone in the construction of the first NHS National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) was cause for celebration this week for the project partners committed to making the facility a reality. The £105 million NRC will combine patient care delivered by staff from Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) with research, innovation and training led by Loughborough University and the University of Nottingham. IHP, a joint venture between VINCI Building and Sir Robert McAlpine, hosted the formal ‘Topping Out Ceremony’ for the NRC at the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate near Loughborough. Physical activity is critical in driving public health improvementsA new report from The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) entitled ‘The Unusual Suspects: Unlocking the Potential of the Wider Public Health Workforce’ reinforces a widely publicised stance that a focus on an expanded public health workforce would offer unparalleled support and significantly more returns from public investment. It also emphasises the need for a greater focus on preventative measures, rather than to continue to simply focus on treatment and more reactive approaches. As part of the report, the RSPH stress the need for greater collective support for the millions of people in the UK’s wider public health workforce that are positively contributing to the nation’s health. The sport and physical activity workforce plays a hugely significant role in the public health workforce via the critical interventions and contributions we make that enable people to lead healthy and active lifestyles. Pathways Project confirms Community of Practice members39 organisations are set to play a significant role in how the health sector across England supports adults to develop a more active lifestyle. It is a major milestone in the development of Physical Activity for Health Pathways across England. Move Consulting was selected by the Active Partnerships National Organisation to work in collaboration with them on this Sport England funded project which seeks to develop pathways for physical activity in health and care systems. The aim of the project is to develop a framework and toolkit so that the health sector, working together with physical activity providers, can support those living with or at risk of a long-term health condition.
