Real Rutland Seeking Sponsors for FY22
For the past five years, Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region (formerly Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce and Rutland Economic Development Corporation) has been working to attract new individuals and families into Rutland County through our Regional Marketing Initiative – Real Rutland. The campaign just wrapped up its fifth year of what is currently a ten-year plan and CEDRR has reached that time of year where we’re
seeking sponsors for the 21/22 fiscal year. CEDRR’s Executive Director, Lyle Jepson, and Communications & Community Engagement Director, Kim Rupe, are at the height of revisiting the municipalities who have continuously supported Real Rutland to give an update on the status of Real Rutland, share some updated statistics, and request (new and continued) funding support to market the region and increase the county-wide population. In addition to visiting towns throughout Rutland County, CEDRR staff will also be
revisiting businesses that have supported the campaign in the past as well as several new businesses to request funding for the work in an effort to increase our overall population and specifically the Rutland County workforce. Since the start of our work to increase our Region’s population, CEDRR has seen over 100 individuals (equaling over 50 families) relocate, specifically through the Real Rutland Concierge Program. We are seeing success first-hand and the impact that these individuals and families are having throughout Rutland County as employees, friends, neighbors, and fellow community members. Just by adding a few simple adornments, you can really create a beautiful custom pie plate. If that wasn't enough with the ability to choose your own glazes you really can walk away with a beautiful platter. In “Everybody Loves Pie!” Makers create decorative pie plates to show off at the next holiday gathering. Over the course of two evenings, you will start with a pie plate and work toward decorating it in a beautiful design to match your personal taste. Participants will learn how to use a slump mold, attach two pieces of clay together, integrate stamps and markings, and how to prep for and apply glazes.
The MINT: Rutland’s Makerspace is connecting Rutland with the tools and machinery to make the best presents this holiday season. Classes like “Everybody Likes Pie! Decorative Pie Plates” have already been a hit with people looking to create something with a truly personal touch. Making pie plates has been such a success that a second session was added! MINT classes are always open to the public but as a member, you can return and make as much as you’d like. Other classes like ornament making with the laser and letterpress greeting cards are also on their way. There’s also no better present for the maker in your life than a gift certificate for a month of membership. Because access to hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment in a knowledgeable and supportive environment is all some people need to be happy. In other maker news, Tool Training Tuesday is now Maker Monday! Maker Monday is the best time to stop by The MINT if you have questions about a specific shop or if you’re a member looking to learn a new tool or get help with a
project. The MINT’s shop leads will be on-hand from 5:30 to 7:30 on every Monday of the month but the first. To see the full schedule of classes as well as staff hours for touring The MINT: Rutland’s Makerspace, visit rutlandmint.org/calendar. Learn more about The MINT→
