Zoom Changes Coming July 1Because of the importance of Zoom in teaching, learning, and research at the University, Pitt IT is committed to continuing to provide Zoom for all faculty, staff, and students. However, several of the advanced features of Zoom are used by less than one percent of all Pitt users and add significant costs to our enterprise license. Starting July 1, departments will need to purchase shared or individual premium licenses for those who need Large Capacity Meetings (for 301 to 500 participants) or Webinars (special meetings with additional features). Submit a Help Desk ticket if your department needs to purchase a Large Capacity Meeting or Webinar license. Get Familiar With the New Teams AppMicrosoft is launching an updated version of the Teams desktop app, bringing faster, simpler, and more flexible performance to users. The new Teams app for Windows and Mac is currently in preview mode, and Microsoft plans to retire the classic Teams desktop app this summer. Pitt IT recommends exploring the new Teams now to get used to its updated features. To try the new version, open Teams and click Try the new Teams in the top-left corner of the menu ribbon. Until mid-May, you can switch back to the classic version at any time by toggling this setting. After mid-May, the classic version will no longer be available, so it's a good idea to get familiar with the new environment sooner rather than later.
