Small Business Economic Survey Results
Over 100 Vermont businesses from diverse industries completed the 2023 annual economic survey in January regarding the outlook of Vermont's small- to medium-sized businesses. 80% of the business owners who responsed have fewer than 25 employees. The survey, presented by Davis and Hodgdon CPAs and the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, revealed that there is more optimism in business owners' attitudes about the Vermont economy than there is optimism for
the U.S. economy. Also noteworthy is that most business owners are optimistic about their operations and profitability in 2023 and many have made significant adjustments to their business models to adapt to post-pandemic life. Owners were once again asked to identify the top three issues facing their business in 2023. In contrast to the issues identified in 2022, which had pandemic-related issues (72%) as their top issue, respondents identified finding qualified employees (68%), health insurance costs (62%), and Vermont taxes (33%) as their top three issues. Pandemic-related challenges fell to 22% in 2023. Entire Results →

MARCH 28 | 1:30-5:00 PM | Generator Makerspace, 40 Sears Lane, Burlington Register by March 20. The purpose of this event is to introduce how X-Ray CT Scanning and analysis technology can benefit designers and manufacturers. The technology is available to industry through the Vermont Manufacturing Collaborative (VT-MC) and Advanced Manufacturing Center – right here in Vermont! Come and learn about the Nikon 225 kV CT Scanner and VolumeGraphics analysis software. Experience how it can help you with product design, quality assurance, design qualification, root cause analysis, and more. The CT technology coupled with VolumeGraphics software can provide non-destructive 3D imaging and analysis of material properties such as porosity, wall thickness, particle distribution, and tolerancing. We can also look inside parts to inspect weld joints, and identify cracks, voids, or foreign material. It can even calculate measurements and perform reverse engineering by creating CAD files.
