Green Events Code of Practice Updated to PROVIDE NATIONALLY CONSISTENT BASELINE FOR BEST PRACTICE AND TARGETS FOR BOLD ACTION

The national Green Events Code of Practice (GECoP) has been updated by a working group of industry experts, chaired by LIVE Green, to provide a clear and robust framework for event organisers, local authorities, and the supply chain. The revised code reflects current best practices and aligns with national policy to help the UK live events sector achieve its ambitious environmental targets. Targets for energy have been significantly strengthened in this second version, now including a 100% reduction in onsite fossil fuel consumption at live events by 2030. Green Leader Q&A #54: Ted Leggett, Culture & Events Manager at Norwich City Council

Ted Leggett has been working in the Events industry for 15 years, first freelancing in event Health & Safety, he now manages Culture & Events for Norwich City Council, and through this role has worked with some of those at the forefront of event sustainability. As one of the pilot councils to trial the implementation of the Green Events Code Of Practice (GECOP), Norwich is becoming a leader in effecting change in live event sustainability. Read Ted's answers HERE>>

Green Hydrogen Power Trials at BST Hyde Park and LIDO Festival 2025

Suzanne Johnson is a Senior Site Manager at LS Events, leading on American Express presents BST Hyde Park, a live music event with a strong track record in sustainable innovation. In 2025, Suzanne played a pivotal role in trialling green hydrogen at AEG Presents’ British Summer Time Hyde Park and LIDO Festival 2025. ONBOARD:EARTH LAUNCH SUSTAINABALE TRAVEL GUIDE AT The Welsh Festival Summit, presented by The AIF

The Association of Indpependent Festivals is heading to Cardiff on October 16th to present The Welsh Festival Summit. This one-day conference will feature lightning talks, operations and marketing workshops and networking opportunities. Topics include funding, freelancers, income generation and, of course, sustainability: Charity onboard:earth will launch a new Green Travel Guide for Welsh Festivals funded by Event Wales. Sustainability Sessions at The East Anglian Festival Network's Annual Show and Conference

The East Anglian Festival Network's annual Conference and Exhibition (EAFN25), returns on Monday, October 13, 2025, in Cambridgeshire. 

The programme features event sustainability, with a panel on Green Travel for Events with the charity onboard:earth, and a session hosted by The Power of Events on how to measure the environmental, societal and economic impact of events. Find out more and register HERE>>

Green Gathering Pioneers Nordic's Recycled Ocean Plastic Wristbands

The Green Gathering festival 2025 trialled Nordic Wristband’s new Recycled Ocean Plastic (ROP) wristbands, which are certified as manufactured from ocean bound plastics. Green Gathering director Em Weirdigan embraced the opportunity to reduce the festival’s impact. She comments: 

“We hope the introduction of recycled ocean plastic wristbands will not only reduce impacts, but serve as a catalyst to spark conversations for all those festival attendees wearing an ROP wristband."  Read the full case study HERE>>
