No script, no limits! Meet the newest class of theatre students in this year’s UnScripted. 22 first-year students will be sharpening their quick wit and improvisation skills by taking your suggestions live. Be ready to jump in with ideas when prompted, because no UnScripted show is the same!

“This is my 8th year directing MSU UnScripted. I look forward to this show every year because I get to witness new friends form bonds and create space for each other's creativity."

MSU Department of Theatre is proud to announce the opening of the Friends of Theatre Food Pantry, designed to support our theatre students who spend long nights rehearsing, building, designing, and bringing our productions to life.

“Studies show that 59 percent of college students are food insecure. Our students can’t perform at their best if they are hungry. This pantry will give them the nourishment they need for those long days.”

- Kath Clark, Office Assistant for the Department of Theatre.

After months of dedicated planning, the food pantry officially held its ribbon cutting on November 20, 2025, a fitting time before the Thanksgiving holiday! This pantry reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to caring for the whole student, onstage and backstage.

On November 13, faculty member, Dionne O’Dell, participated in an interview, podcast, and book signing at The Drama Book Shop in New York City!

O'Dell was joined by alumni Ryan Duda (BFA Theatre, 2018 & Arts, Cultural Management and Museum Studies MA, 2021) and Evan Phillips (BFA Theatre, 2018), both contributing authors to O'Dell's The Sense-Ability Ensemble’s Guide to Creating Theatre for Audiences that are Neurodiverse.

“Evan has a brother who is neurodiverse, and he had a very wonderful perspective on his interactions with his brother growing up and then diving into this work and how meaningful it was to see the impact.”
- Dionne O’Dell, Artistic Director of The Sense-Ability Ensemble

The conversation, moderated by MSU alumni Joel Guzman, now Community Engagement Director at IndieSpace NYC, explored The Sense-Ability Ensemble’s productions and inclusive theatre practices while welcoming many MSU alumni in NYC!
