Pitt and UPMC Orthopaedic Care Teams Shine On Podiums Around the Globe

Our Pitt-UPMC Orthopaedic Care teams made impressive contributions at recent national and international meetings, showcasing their expertise and dedication to advancing patient care.

At the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) Meeting, October 16-19 in San Antonio, Pitt-UPMC faculty shone as leaders and presenters at this peer-reviewed society. Highlights included Dr. Justin Arner’s podium presentation and multiple instructional course lectures led by Dr. Albert Lin, who also organized a panel and workshop. Dr. Matt Kelly of UPMC Pinnacle, alongside faculty Drs. Christopher Schmidt and Nathan Formaini, shared their insights with peers from across the country. Alumni also took center stage, with Drs. Greg Gasbarro, Josh Port, Andy Sheean, and Leighann Panico leading instructional lectures and panels, strengthening Pitt-UPMC's national presence.

In Washington, D.C., the UPMC Hip Preservation research group, led by Drs. Craig Mauro and Michael McClincy, presented new research at ISHA – The Hip Preservation Society meeting from October 17-19. Our dedication to research and improving outcomes for our patients was certainly embodied by our Pitt-UPMC members in attendance this year, including: Dr. Sean Meredith (Sports Medicine Fellow 2019), Dr. Ariana Lott (Sports Medicine Fellow 2024), Dr. Ting Cong, Dr. Keelan Enseki, and Dr. Tyler Hauer (Current Sports Medicine Fellow).

Dr. Ozgur Dede, Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at UPMC Children's, shared his expertise in neuromuscular scoliosis at Istanbul University’s 4th Cerebral Palsy Symposium on October 19. Presenting virtually from Pittsburgh, Dr. Dede’s talk emphasized the critical timing and decision-making in surgical interventions for children with cerebral palsy-related spine deformities.

We are proud to share our knowledge, connect with colleagues, and help shape the future of orthopaedic care!

Drs. Albert Lin, MaCalus Hogan, and Alicia Trbovich led talks in their specific areas of expertise, including shoulder and foot and ankle injuries in elite athletes, and targeted treatment for sport-related concussions.
