As the school year concludes, we pause to reflect on the year that was and all that was accomplished, despite the constant changing conditions that we all found ourselves working and living with. Our students, particularly Year 12, have done well to be able to continue their learning and be successful, despite the challenges they faced. What was able to be achieved and enjoyed at CHHS this year, was outlined by students from each Year cohort at the Annual Awards Assembly and the Year 12 Graduation last week, which also celebrated the academic successes of many. Student achievements throughout the year are also detailed in our school magazine, Delphis, which is hot off the presses this week.

Despite the challenges placed on us by the pandemic, our students have been involved in a variety of activities during the year.  They have approached all these with enthusiasm, dedication, and strength of character, whilst demonstrating our core values of respect, responsibility and do your best. This was very evident with the number of students being recognised for their outstanding achievements and receiving awards. Congratulations to all involved in both events, well done!

The finale to last week was an out of uniform day for a subdued Pink and Blue Day where funds raised, $450 are donated to support Men and Women’s Cancer. There was also a sausage sizzle provided for all students on the day and hopefully we will see a return to the usual event in 2022.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your help, support, and interest during the year. We have had a different year, but have met the challenges with positivity, and you, as partners in the education of your children, deserve much of the credit for that.  Many thanks also go to our students, student leaders, teaching and non-teaching staff, members of the P&C and our broader community.  It is the support of the entire school community that helps make our school a great place to connect, succeed and thrive.

For those leaving CHHS this year, both staff and students, I would like to wish you all the best for the future.  I look forward to working with all the members of our school community next year to keep working in collaboration and cooperation to further improve and build on a range of positive learning outcomes for our students.

The school will be open on Monday 24 January and Tuesday 25 January for enquiries, as will the uniform shop from 8.30am to 2.30pm on each of those days.

School resumes for our incoming Year 7, and Year 11 and Year 12 students on Tuesday 1 February, with all year groups returning on Wednesday 2 February.

I wish you all a Happy Christmas and a safe and happy summer vacation - see you in 2022.

Mrs M Hutchinson
Principal

The Grass is always greener in the Ag Plot

Meticulous seed bed preparation by Year 9 student Eden Kaminski and recent heavy rains have guaranteed an excellent establishment of a kikuyu blend pasture in the school’s Ag Plot. Students from the Cattle Team have also assisted to produce this valuable feed source for the new cattle arriving early in 2022.
How awesome are these before and after photos of Eden in the pasture. Such a great achievement!!!

Year 7 Spanish Class' Taqueria

On Friday of week 9 our Year 7 Spanish class, "Leachy's Leyendas" celebrated a fantastic year of learning. We transformed the C2 classroom into a "taqueria" or taco restaurant. Students then had to ask for a table in Spanish, as well as order drinks and food in Spanish. It was a lot of fun and the smiles on the students’ faces were priceless.
