Tat-Pac bring home bronze-- Brendon Walton The gents from Te Atatū faced a tough challenge when the section-play draw was published. They got a strong start by defeating Tauranga’s Graham Skellern skipped trio. In round two, they narrowly beat New Zealand Blackjack Sheldon Bagrie-Howley and his Gore side 16-15, the first of many one-point matches, leading into a bye and closing their day at New Lynn. Over at Royal Oak, the Auckland Bowling Club ladies had a day to forget! The trio just couldn’t find their rhythm or the jack, which led to losses to Paritutu 12-17, Omarunui 12-19 and Buckland 3-20, and an end to their campaign. Canoe and Campi Cups kick off this weekend!-- Les Smith Following several weeks of intensive 1-5 coaching sessions, the Zone coaches have handpicked teams to compete in the highly anticipated annual Canoe and Campi Cups. Held across six zones from June through to the first week of August, these sessions saw a massive turnout from bowlers, either new or in their first five years of playing lawn bowls. These enthusiastic bowlers have been keen to gain practical skills and top-notch training. This weekend, the action unfolds with two-day events in different formats: the Triples format for the Canoe Cup at Epsom, and the Fours format for the Campi Cup at Bridge Park. Each team comprises players with a maximum of 10 years of experience, all eager to showcase their newfound skills and compete for glory. Many of these players are eyeing the Auckland 1-5 Rep trials this month and will be keen to compete in this season’s 1-5 Year Centre events. Best of luck to everyone! Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of the team – register now for the 1-5 Year Rep Trials! 📅 Trial dates ⏰Trial times: 06:00 pm – 08:00 pm A change ahead for 1-5 Year Bowls 3Five!We are no longer marketing this event as an 'interclub' competition, which means this season’s event is now open to individual player entries. Auckland clubs are still welcome to select teams and have sign-up sheets for their players however, once teams are entered you cannot use rolling subs. Any changes to the playing lineup need to adhere to the substitution laws and the soon-to-be-released related conditions of play. This change does not affect the format itself but rather the event name to better reflect the individual nature of the competition. Examples of 'interclub' or sides format events include Interclub 8s, Half Day 6s, Molecheck Pathway 7s, and Auckland Cup, where multiple teams make up a side. This change will also apply to the Pathway Bowls 3Five event later in the season.
