Weight loss can put type 2 diabetes into remission for at least five years, study finds

New findings from a three-year extension of the landmark Diabetes UK-funded Diabetes Remission Clinical Trial (DiRECT) have revealed that nearly a quarter of people who were in remission in the original trial remained in remission five years after. 

According to the study, those who were still in remission had an average weight loss of 8.9kg at five years.

First women to access gestational diabetes testing at home have been announced

Expectant mothers under the care of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) have become the first to access ground-breaking new remote testing technology designed to improve screening for gestational diabetes.

The collaboration between the diabetes home testing provider Digostics and UHS involves a pilot introduction of the only regulatory-approved home-use oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) testing-solution, GTT@home.
