Preceptors Needed! The Adult Primary Care (APC) clerkship is a six-week outpatient experience where M3s have the opportunity to experience the world of primary care. During this time, students get to better understand how chronic diseases are managed, address acute outpatient complaints, and observe how longitudinal caring relationships can allow patients to improve their health. We know that primary care physicians have been stretched incredibly thin over the past few years. We also know that internists across the Emory system are wonderful teachers and exceptional clinicians. We are hoping that you might be interested in sharing your knowledge and helping to shape the next generation of physicians. Our students already have experience in outpatient settings, having worked for 18 months in the OPeX program. Moreover, they have the ability to help you write notes and orders within the new Epic system at Emory. The APC clerkship team would love to talk to you about how students can add value and joy to your clinical practice. If you want to learn more, please reach out to Dr. Eva Rimler. The research corner will be a chance to share research-related opportunities, tips, and more. If you have any suggestions for things to include, please let Dr. Saria Hassan know! Society for General Internal Medicine Conference 2023 “General Internal Medicine: Meeting the Promise of Tomorrow” If you are presenting (oral, poster, workshop), please email Dr. Saria Hassan who is compiling a comprehensive list of all Emory GIM representation at the conference this year. New Award for Diabetes Research Dr. Britt Marshall was awarded a Global Center for Diabetes and Translation Research $50,000 award for her project entitled: “Embedding and Evaluating Multidisciplinary Diabetes Management and Continuous Glucose Monitoring into Primary Care for a Vulnerable Population.” Congratulations to Dr. Marshall and her team of co-investigators: Dr. Dylan Stentiford, Dr. Saria Hassan, and Dr. Mo Ali. Master of Public Health Students available If you have a project that could benefit from the skills and assistance of a first-year MPH student please consider posting as an advanced practicum experience. “All Rollins students are required to participate in an Applied Practice Experience (APE) in a public health setting, such as a federal/state/local public health organization, hospital, nonprofit, for-profit or non-government organization. In addition to giving students a hands-on experience in their field, APE can help foster relationships among the public health community and provide organizations the opportunity to mentor a student at a pivotal point in their public health career.” For more information and to post your opportunity on the practicum website please visit Advanced Practicum Experience. Don’t forget about the DOM DAB Core! The Data Analytics and Biostatistics (DAB) Core can
