AN UPDATE ON MKE'S NORTHEAST CORNER

The latest news on this developing space

Consistent with the Airport Master Plan adopted in 2022, Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) is continuing its work to modernize and redevelop the northeast area of the airfield into a modern aviation center.

The Airport issued an RFQ (Request for Qualifications) earlier this year and gained valuable insight into how to best serve business and general aviation needs. As part of this process, we received informal positive feedback and serious inquiries from potential users.

Now that this phase is completed, the next step is to issue an RFP (Request for Proposals) to study, redesign and redevelop this area. Some work is already underway. You may have noticed that one large new hangar is already under construction, while dilapidated hangars that have exceeded their usefulness are being removed.

As we continue, we anticipate development of a new design for the rest of the area, which will include creating layouts for new hangars, aprons, taxiway connections, utilities, and other considerations.
