Proposals Requested for BIPOC Business and Workforce Development Assistance
The Department of Economic Development (DED) is seeking proposals for assistance to serve Vermont's BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) community by expanding and strengthening private sector businesses and workforce development of traditionally underserved communities. Proposals should demonstrate how they will leverage existing community resources, collaborate with community partners, and optimize funding and resources to bridge gaps in services. Proposals must be designed to have long-term transformative impacts, focus on BIPOC communities, and prioritize counties experiencing the most job losses and declining income levels. Questions are due January 16, 2023, and proposals are due February 6, 2023. Assistance
reviewing bid proposals is available at no cost for Vermont businesses through the Vermont Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC). Find the full RFP for this and other bidding opportunities here →

Rutland Tops "Great and Lesser Known Ski Towns" List
Realtor.com has released a list of "14 Great Ski Towns You've Never Heard Of (That Are Affordable for Buying a Home)" and you guessed it, Rutland is one of those towns! Realtor.com says it "plotted every U.S. ski resort, then looked at home listings from the past year within a 30- to 45-minute driving distance to the slopes...Ski resort rankings and reviews, along with personal
experience, led decisions about which ski areas to target, and a review of local businesses helped qualify which towns actually support the ski town lifestyle (ski shops, cafes, pubs, and pizza joints)." The article boasts about Rutland's deep history you won't find out West. Check out the entire list here →
Ending 2022 with Exploration
December school break was full of energy and young people at The MINT! Our Boiler program, where STEAM happens, offered daily exploration and hands-on activities each day of break. Youth also explored the elements: fire, water, wind, and earth through circuitry, energy, clay creation, and more. We were excited to welcome back our high school-aged staff. And it was the first camp designed and
directed by our Education Coordinator, Cortney. We are excited to offer similar camps for both February and April breaks. February is engineering month, so February Camp will be focused on various types of engineering: Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, and Aerospace! We've got loads of adult programming on the calendar too! Learn
