St. Marianne Cope’s legacy of faith, care and selfless service in Hawaii is now touching young lives in central Pennsylvania with the installation of inspiring new artwork at a historic Catholic university.
Sister Joselle Orlando, a Sister of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities — like St. Marianne — painted a three-panel artwork known as a triptych dedicated to St. Marianne for Saint Francis University, located in Loretto, Pennsylvania.
The triptych is prominently displayed in the university’s new Saint Margaret Hall building, which houses the occupational therapy program and also serves physician assistant students. Read more...

From the Office for Social Ministry
“Mercy is the very foundation of the Church's life...The Church's very credibility is seen in how she shows merciful and compassionate love...Mercy is the force that reawakens us to new life and instills in us the courage to look to the future with hope.”
~ Pope Francis, 2015 Jubilee Year of Mercy
Ten years ago in the Jubilee year of Mercy, Pope Francis called the Church to be a “field hospital” for wounded humanity, planting the seeds for this year’s Jubilee Year of Hope, now led by Pope Leo XIV. Both popes remind us that the Church’s mission is to walk with the afflicted — offering mercy that heals and hope that inspires. By emphasizing the importance of responding with compassion and spiritual guidance, these popes have called the Church worldwide to develop healing ways to welcome and embrace those who are suffering. ʻOhana Mass, Sep 27
|
 |
|
Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 5:30 p.m.
Mary, Star of the Sea Church, Honolulu
At Mary, Star of the Sea Church on Oahu, parishioners established their Ministry for Persons with Disabilities by welcoming persons with varying gifts and abilities to celebrate the “ʻOhana Mass.” Ushers who are members of the Knights of Columbus offer a warm welcome and escort them to the designated pews where they were able to better participate in the Eucharist. After Mass, the community continues fellowship together through a potluck supper where all joyfully serve each other with nourishing food and aloha. These “ʻOhana Masses” and potluck fellowship normally take place on the fourth Saturday each month, 5:30 p.m. at Mary, Star of the Sea where all are welcomed to celebrate and share their gifts as one ‘Ohana.
Live stream available at Mary, Star of the Sea's YouTube Channel.

Saint of the Week
Saint Peter Claver
1581–1654
Memorial - September 9
Saint Peter Claver was born to devout, upper-class parents in Verdú, Catalonia, Spain, a small farming village. Not much is known about his early years. At twenty years old, he entered the Jesuit novitiate and was sent to study at the Jesuit college of Montesión on the island of Mallorca, off the coast of Spain. There, he met Brother Alphonsus Rodriguez, the seventy-year-old doorkeeper of the college. Known for his humility, piety, and spiritual insight, Brother Rodriguez served as the college’s doorkeeper for forty-six years. He carried out menial tasks, delivered messages, welcomed guests, and offered a compassionate ear to all who came to the door with needs. Peter sought his advice and their friendship blossomed. Read
