In other news, our Research Methods online courses have recently been revamped. Part of our suit of online research skills courses, this update consists of Undertaking a Literature Review, the Principles of Research Methods course, and the Research Methods In-Practice discipline-focused courses, all of which provide engaging and focused training that is carefully tailored to the different needs of researchers. Preparing for the 3MT: Everything you need to know When: 16 June 2021, 2:00pm - 4:30pm Designed for any HDR student who is thinking about participating in the 3MT® competition, this workshop explains what the 3MT is, how it works, and provides strategies and suggestions to help you win over the judging panel. Do you want to know how to make your presentation memorable, and cope with the inevitable anxiety that comes with presenting? In this session, Hugh Kearns will share all the best ‘tips and tricks’ to be successful in the 3MT. Register here. Working with your Supervisor – ECMS When: 17 June 2021, 10:00am - 12:00pm The relationship you have with your supervisor is crucial in determining your PhD experience. They are your primary source of guidance as you undertake an individual research project and even the best student/supervisor relationships can experience periods of strain through the ups and downs of research. In this workshop you will learn what you can do to establish a positive working relationship with your supervisor and ultimately get the most out of your HDR experience. Register here. Reviving your Life while doing an HDR When: 22 June 2021, 10:00am - 12:00pm In this final session of the Mental Health and Wellbeing series, Jane Turner Goldsmith will provide the tools needed to pick yourself up or ‘revive’ when facing common concerns for HDRs, including anxiety and stress. This session will include a range of experiential exercises to relax the body, including breathing, meditation, mindfulness, progressive muscle relaxation and visualisation. Register here. That’s because it’s all in the delivery. If your job is to persuade and influence others, these techniques will help you to build on your presentation skills and excel. Writing Journal Reviews and Systematic Reviews When: 28 June 2021, 10:00am - 12:00pm This session focuses on the successful communication aspects of Journal Review writing and Systematic Review writing. The session covers the different types of Journal Review writing and Systematic Review writing undertaken by academics. It compares Journal Review writing with Systematic Review writing and highlights the relevance of each. Further, it looks at the specific language and structure involved in the development of each. Other Training & DevelopmentScoping Review Workshop Designed for clinicians, public health professionals, academics, researchers and others to determine the most appropriate review methodology for their question, with a particular focus on scoping reviews. This 1-day workshop enables participants to explore the theories and concepts relating to scoping reviews and other types of evidence synthesis, and equip participants with the knowledge and tools they need to successfully plan for and undertake a scoping review following the JBI approach. 17 June 2021; 9:00am-5:00pm.
