The WLANSW is launching a new event series! Thursday is the new Friday is a monthly networking drinks function for women lawyers to attend and network!
The event will be at a different venue each month to allow us to explore Sydney's CBD while we connect and chat about all things law and life.
This month's venue Employees Only is a fashionable, buzzing cocktail bar in the heart of the CBD, located on 9a Barracks Street.

Peta Solomon has kindly offered her time to educate us on the finer points of retainers. This event will be held online only via MS Teams.
Special Guest: Peta Solomon BA LLB has specialised in large personal injury and complex commercial matters involving costs often in excess of $1million and providing expert evidence in security for costs applications. She has been the principal of Costs Partners Pty Limited for 15 years. She has presented seminars to the Law Society of New South Wales, NSW Young Lawyers, the College of Law and Legalwise Seminars. Peta currently sits on the Supreme Court Costs Users Group and contributes to the column on costs in the Australian Legal Business and Precedent journals.

Updates to the Solicitors’ Conduct Rules: A Conversation
The Legal Profession Uniform Law Australian Solicitors’ Conduct Rules 2015 were amended in April 2022 after an extensive consultation process, overseen by the Law Council of Australia.This session will provide an overview of this review, including the key changes to the Rules. The presentation will be enlivened by conversation with a panel of senior and well-respected local lawyers.
The presenter, Karina Murray, is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Law at the University of Wollongong. Karina teaches and publishes on legal ethics and is co-author, with her colleague John Littrich, of the ethics text Lawyers in Australia (Federation Press 4th ed, 2019) .
Karina will be in conversation with: Lorelle Longbottom, Partner, DGB Lawyers; Lorri Field, Director, PDC Lawyers and Town Planners; and Natalee Davis, Senior Associate, Shine Lawyers.

Launch of the National 'Migrant and Refugee Women's Attitudes, Experiences and Responses to Workplace Sexual Harassment' Study
Share your experiences at work as a migrant or refugee woman living in Australia. Please complete this short anonymous survey here: bit.ly/3P7UBng Closing on 16 September.
The survey is open to anyone living in Australia over the age of 18 years old who identifies as a woman from migrant or refugee background. It is available in six languages (Arabic, Farsi, Swahili, Dari, Simplified Chinese and English) and should take no longer than 20 minutes to complete. All responses are confidential. We are pleased to offer all who complete the survey, the chance of winning one of 20 Coles-Myer vouchers to the value of $100.Findings from the survey will inform better targeted workplace responses and support for migrant and refugee women.
