Dear colleagues,

Please join me in congratulating Anandi N. Sheth, MD, MSc, Professor of Medicine, on being selected as the new Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases, which became effective on Monday, September 1, 2025.

We look forward to Dr. Sheth's leadership of the division and are excited to see her advance our mission of improving health through discovery, education, and care. 

Dr. Sheth has served as the interim director since March 2025, succeeding Wendy Armstrong, MD, who served as interim after Monica Farley, MD, retired in September of last year.

About Anandi N. Sheth, MD, MSc, FIDSA

Dr. Sheth graduated from Rice University, completed medical school at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and completed internal medicine residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She subsequently served for two years as an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). After EIS, she came to Emory, where she did her Infectious Diseases fellowship, also obtaining a Master of Science in Clinical Research from Emory’s Laney Graduate School, and is a graduate of the Georgia CTSA's KL2 Scholars program.

Dr. Sheth joined the Department of Medicine faculty in 2011 as an Assistant Professor and has risen through the ranks to be a tenured Professor of Medicine. She is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in the field of HIV and women’s health. She has a sustained track record of federal research funding, high-impact publications, leadership in national and international research programs, and contributes to clinical guidelines. Dr. Sheth has held several leadership roles within the institution, including Director of Research Operations for the Grady Ponce de Leon Center, Associate Director of the Emory CFAR Clinical Core, and Associate Vice Chair for Faculty Development in the Department of Medicine. She is part of the leadership team of the Emory Building Interdisciplinary Research in Women's Health (BIRCWH) K12 program and the Georgia CTSA KL2 Scholars Program. She is actively involved in teaching in a variety of settings and is also a highly effective and dedicated mentor. Dr. Sheth received the Jonas A. Shulman Teacher of the Year Award (2014) and the Shanta Zimmer Mentoring Award (2020) from the Emory Division of Infectious Diseases, and she received the Department of Medicine’s Shanthi V. Sitaraman Silver Pear Mentoring Award (2024).
