Synod Meeting Update
Due to a number of factors (workload pressures, personnel issues, changing COVID restrictions) we wish to advise that the online portion of the Synod meeting to be held on Saturday 18th June has been cancelled.
The Synod ’22 page of the main Uniting Church website has been further updated with reports, proposals and two videos which are now available for viewing. We encourage you to continue to check the website as new information is being uploaded on a regular basis. This is the link: https://sa.uca.org.au/about-us/synod-meetings/
There are vacancies occurring on some Synod committees, councils or boards. Some of these are filled by appointment and some are filled by a nomination/election process. With due attention to Synod by-laws, members of Synod are invited to submit nominations for vacant positions. This year, nominations will close on Saturday 18th June at 4:30pm.

Queen's Birthday Honours List
We congratulate the following people on receiving awards in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List:
Mr Richard John HEARN, Wattle Park SA 5066 For significant service to aged care, and to the community. Uniting Care.
Mr Graham Dean CARTER, Mount Gambier SA 5290 For service to the community of Mount Gambier.
Ms Teresa NOWAK, Norrie SA 5608 For service to the multicultural community of South Australia.
Mr Phillip JONES, SA For service to community mental health.

External Grant Opportunities
As well as the Uniting Foundation grant round currently open, there are four more external grant opportunities currently available, including:
- City of Tea Tree Gully Council Community grants
- Australia Post Community grants
- Green Adelaide Grassroots grants
- Growing Good Gardens grants.
2022 Refugee Week
The Uniting Church has always advocated for and stood with those who are disadvantaged. For celebrating World Refugee Day on 20th June, and the 45th anniversary of the Uniting Church in Australia on 22nd June, our congregations are encouraged to plan a service on either Sunday 19th or 26th June to highlight the needs of refugees. Reflection of the week
Advocate, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, Wisdom, Spirit of God, Holy Spirit, wind, breath, fire – across our Bible and within our Christian traditions, we experience many aspects of the Spirit.
From before the earth, as we know it, was formed and during the genesis, God’s Spirit is present.
Wisdom is in God’s creation, comforting compassionately, informing righteousness, at the heart of justice, breathing peace into troubled spaces, interceding and advocating, and imparting ways to express ourselves when we alone cannot find a way.
Prayer points
This week we pray:
- For our leaders and members of Synod as we prepare to gather to share in celebrating and discerning our future
- For the resources needed and changed attitudes so that all countries will welcome refugees
- For the protection of our environment for the good of all.
