ATTENTION RESIDENTS OF
GRANDWOOD PARK PARK DISTRICT

You CAN make a difference! We need your help and support.

The park district exists to provide opportunities for residents to enjoy our outdoor spaces as well as community activities.

Do you enjoy any of these?
     Music BY the Lake
     Fall Fest
     Cookies & Milk with Santa
     Sweetheart Dance
          Others?

We hope you do!

We hold these activities using our small staff of a few part-time employees and neighborhood volunteers. If you can give even ONE hour to volunteer at one event it would be very much appreciated.

Please contact Leslie Cassidy our Park District Manager at 847-356-0008, by email at parkdistrict@grandwoodpark.net, or stop by the office at 36630 N. Hutchins Rd. during afternoon hours (noon-5pm) to chat. A small amount of time makes a huge difference.

Thank you in advance for your help.

If you are already volunteering, THANK YOU❤️

The Warren Township Highway Department

Amy Sarver
Warren Township Highway Commissioner

The Warren Township Highway Department maintains the right-of-way for most roads in unincorporated areas of Warren Township. The right-of-way includes the entire roadway and extends to the homeowner's property line. Within that right-of-way, the Highway Department assumes many responsibilities. Some of these responsibilities include asphalt patching and resurfacing, basin maintenance, brush removal, culvert jetting, drainage work, litter pickup, roadside mowing, road striping, right-of-way permits, shoulder gravel, traffic control, tree removal and winter snow and ice removal. Your Highway Department is equipped to handle these duties and contracts others with private enterprises. We are proud to have excellent intergovernmental cooperation with the municipalities in and around township boundaries. Please call the Highway Department at 847-244-1101 ext. 301 with any questions.

Tips to Reduce Problems When It Snows

·         Please do not shovel or blow snow back into the street after it has been plowed and salted.                Snow that is deposited on the street can refreeze and cause hazardous conditions for you or              your neighbors.

·         When it starts to snow, park your vehicle off the street. This protects it from being plowed in.              It  also prevents receiving a ticket and being towed.

·         Check that your mailbox and post are in good repair and that they are behind the curb, not                leaning out over the street.

·         If there is a fire hydrant in front of your home, clear the snow around it. It is there for your                  protection and that of your neighbors.

·         Please remove portable basketball hoops from the right-of-way. The Township is not                            responsible for damages that occur during snow removal operations.

·         Please place garbage and recycling bins on the apron of the driveway. These bins are not to                be placed on the roadway as they become hazards for plow drivers.

Thank you!

Cookies & Milk with Santa
  -and-
Santa's Ride and Toy Drive
December 2022

Thank you to everyone that came out to our Cookies & Milk with Santa program. We partnered with the Wildwood Park District and everyone had a great time visiting with Santa and Mrs. Claus, having some cookies & milk, doing crafts, and playing some games. Plus, each child took home a goodie bag!!

Santa had a wonderful time riding around Grandwood Park and The Shires, waving to all of the children (and adults) that came out to greet him. We collected toys for our toy drive and would like to thank all of the generous residents that donated a toy to brighten the holiday for children that may otherwise go without!!! And thank you to the Warren Township Highway Department for participating and collecting the donations for us!!

Santa can't wait to come back in December 2023!!!

Judith (Judy) Crockett died on December 1, 2022. Judy and her husband, James Crockett, built their home in Grandwood Park in 1970. Jim died many years ago and Judy maintained their home next to Adams Park until the time of her death. 52-years as a  Grandwood Park resident. Judy and Jim were very active in the community and the two of them served for many years as Lake County Reserve Deputies. Jim was the driving force and first Captain of the Sheriffs Reserve Deputies. They were always available for security at the early Summer Fest and other events down by the lake. They started the now defunct Mobile Eye in the 1980's. Judy was awarded the Capt. James F. Crockett Distinguished Service Award in 1997, named after her husband. The Award is the highest honor for a Lake County Sheriff Reserve Deputy. Judy was an accomplished professional seamstress and was famous for her doll clothes. Oh, she was also a dog groomer.  In her spare time she worked full time for  Northern Trust, holding down several positions within the bank. She was active in her church,  Crossway Church in Bristol, Wisconsin, and was known  there as the Jelly Belly lady, letting the children pick a jelly bean after church. To say Judy was a busy lady and wonderful neighbor is an under statement. She raised her family in Grandwood Park and they were near her to the end.
So long Judy, we're gonna miss you.
