Play started at 1.30pm on Friday with three games, but with Auckland drawing a bye in the second round, there was a long wait before play began again at 7pm. At the end of the first day, Auckland came out even with wins, losses, and draws. Saturday saw a determined team winning all their games to put them level with Taranaki on the top of the table. On Sunday, Bowls Taranaki proved to be the strongest contenders winning the championship after a dramatic final end against Wellington Gold. Auckland was matched against Wellington Black. While Wellington Black took an early lead, Auckland fought back to win all their matches to be placed third. Thank you Bowls Wellington for hosting a great competition. Our team can be very proud of their great effort, and we look forward to the tournament next season.

Rawhiti Trust & its Impact on Bowls AucklandBy Paul Neazor When you mention Trusts, there are two schools of thought. From a positive way to protect assets to a slightly sinister way of keeping money acquired in some dodgy fashion away from the taxman and creditors, different ideas come to different minds. To members of sports clubs, they can be some distant but endless supply of money for this, that and the other. You know the form … the Committee deals with them, but I know they’re there. In reality, they are the lifeblood for the majority of sports clubs these days, and without them, a number would have gone under or be functioning in a far more limited fashion. 21-23 July 2023 The National Champ of Champs Fours is over two locations, Royal Oak Bowls and Pukekohe Cosmopolitan Bowling Club.
