Dear Lord, thank You for the gift of family. We know that family is our first ministry, and we ask that You strengthen our relationship and bond. May You always be in our midst, and help us to prioritize You above all else such that we can always find time to pray together. I pray that joy and peace will always be present in our household as we prioritize our time with You. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen
TERM 1 WEEK 4 - 21 FEBRUARY 2024
OUR LADY OF GRACE NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents and Caregivers, One of the highlights in the role of Principal is being able to meet new families as they seek enrolment at Our Lady of Grace for their child/ren. As part of the interview process for new families to our school, I speak to the school’s Vision for Learning and the way in which this document is lived by the staff and the broader community. A cornerstone of the Vision is the Charism of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, particularly the ways in which we can find God in the everyday. As I walk through the classroom, I am able to witness God in the everyday as the students and teachers embark on their learning together. They are well into their routines now and have done an exceptional job in dealing with the hot weather! P&F Meeting Tonight
As I speak with new parents, I also highlight the amazing generosity of our P&F. The new courtyards and the basketball courts are a testament to the work they do. To further support this work, I would like to encourage all families (new and old) and parent representatives to take some time to attend P&F Meetings. Tonight, we meet in the Hive at 7pm. There is only one meeting per term, so we would love to see you come along. Whole School Mass and Leadership Ceremony
On Friday 23 February, we will celebrate our opening school Mass at 9.30am in the MPA. Please note this change in time to our originally advertised 11.10am start. Not only will the Mass officially open our school year, but it provides us with an opportunity to commission our Year 6 Student Leaders. Head Boy and Head Girl, House captains and Ministries will be blessed and presented with their badges. All parents are welcome to attend. Senior Swimming Trials - Revised Date
As we deal with the extreme temperatures, we have been appreciative of the flexibility of Mr Brown and Mr Short, volunteering parents, staff and students in shifting our Senior swimming trials to tomorrow and Friday. The trials have moved to Bold Park in our efforts to accommodate change of date at short notice. The trials will be good preparation for our Swimming Carnival next Friday 1 March. Junior Aquatic Fun Day
There is also much anticipation for our inaugural Junior Aquatic Fun Day. This fun day full of aquatic activities will be held at school on the adventure area. It is intended that this will be a fun morning where the students will be separated into year groups and will participate in their classes. There will also be opportunities to work in Houses. This will provide the children with a greater opportunity to participate, get to know their classmates and year level friends, as well as having fun! The children will take part in individual water games and relays. Thank you to Mr Brown and Mr Short for all of the work you have already put into this event.
Thank you and God Bless. Mrs Michelle Lloyd
Principal
Kiss and Drive Family Name Cards - PLEASE DISPLAY
Thank you to those parents who have begun to display their family names on their cars using Kiss and Drive. The process of safely getting your children into cars is quicker (especially in the elements), so please ensure your family name card is visible for the duty teacher if you are picking your children up in Kiss and Drive. Your assistance in this is greatly appreciated.
Reachout Roster 2024
The Our Lady of Grace School Reachout Program operates with the support of the P&F. The Reachout Program provides short term emergency meals and donations to members of our school community. If you wish to assist with this program in 2024, please fill out the commitment form that will be sent on School Stream. You will then be added to the Reachout meal roster. We also require a Reachout Coordinator to create the volunteer roster per term. If this role is something you are interested in, please contact Vicki Ryan in the office.

Parent Representatives
Calling all parents! With the start of the new school year we are needing one or two parents from each class to put their hand up to be the class representative. The role of the class representative is an important role which helps build a strong community spirit and supports the work of the Parents & Friends Association (P&F) and the school. The primary responsibility of the class rep is to liaise between their class teacher and parents. If you are interested in the role, please email admin@olg.wa.edu.au. Our first meeting is tonight Wednesday 21 February at 7pm in the Hive. We hope to see you all there!

As a Catholic school community, we begin our year with the opportunity to celebrate the Eucharist together at our Opening School Mass. At this Mass we give thanks for the many blessings provided for us in the world and to ask God for guidance and energy to make the most of all that we have been provided with. We will also be presenting our new School Leaders, House Captains and Ministry Leaders with their badges as they begin this important leadership role. We will celebrate our Opening Year Mass together at 9.30am on Friday the 23rd of February in the MPA.
We acknowledge the original custodians of this land, the Noongar people, and show our respect for their ancestors and traditions.
