Office Closure Update

The Synod office at 212 Pirie Street and the Brooklyn Park Unitng College Campus will both be closed this Thursday, December 9th for the Staff Christmas Party.

The biggest conversation taking place in the Uniting Church right now is the Act2 project. Act 2 is a whole-of-church process and approach to discerning where God is calling us and how we move boldly and with faith into the future. Event highlight

All are welcome to a Service of Nine Lessons and Carols at Scots Church Adelaide (cnr of North Terrace and Pulteney Street, Adelaide) on Sunday, December 19th, 2021 at 10.30 am.
The choir will be conducted by Alex Roose, with organist Ashleigh Tobin OAM and poetry readings by James Scott.

APY Lands Children in Need

Please consider donating toys for children in remote country APY Lands and regions who desperately need resources and toys this Christmas. The Uniting Congress Church seeks your help at this time to supply Christmas toys and resources to children who are in very high need remote areas.

2022 Calendar Orders Update

There are a number of calendar orders still waiting to be picked up at the Synod office. If you have opted to pick your calendar order up from the Synod Pirie Street office, please do so between Monday to Friday during normal office hours. Please note that the office will close at 3.00 pm on Friday, 24th December 2021.

Prayer Points

This week we pray for:

  • For those that live in uncertain and unsafe situations may they find safety, support, healing and strength
  • For the rights of all people to be free from persecution and discrimination
  • For the Uniting Church in Australia as it embraces conversations as part of Act2 and discerns where the Spirit is leading the church into the future.

 


Reflection

‘Come, Lord Jesus,’ the Advent mantra, means that all of Christian history has to live out of a kind of deliberate emptiness, a kind of chosen non-fulfillment. Perfect fullness is always to come, and we do not need to demand it now. The theological virtue of hope keeps the field of life wide open.
