Once training is completed our volunteer counselors are responsible for answering our 24/7 hotline, taking calls ranging from information referral, financial crisis, emotional support, crisis intervention, addiction, and much more. We are a certified crisis hotline and are partnered with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, Alcoholics Anonymous, Centre Safe, and a variety of local therapists. Are you interested in science communication and learning more about the science libraries at Penn State? The Science Communication Intern for STEM Libraries is a great opportunity to develop engaging stories, imagery, and communication experience. This paid internship is up to 10 hours/week for the Spring 2022 semester. Some projects include creating digital slides highlighting major collections and resources in STEM, sustainability initiatives and other thematic foci; digital stories focused on users of STEM resources; and development and organization of outreach programs targeted for specific audiences. Requirements for the position are a major in the Eberly College of Science, excellent communication skills, and experience with software tools for creation of graphical content.
