Founded in 2018, Cantate Deo Youth Orchestra is a Christian youth orchestra run independently by its members, with a mission to revitalise the joy of classical music amongst their own generation.
Consisting of high school and university students of a diverse range of majors, Cantate Deo will present a magnificent evening of classical pieces, including works of Beethoven and Grieg, uplifting Indonesian classics and selections from Handel's Messiah, along with a special arrangement of How Great Thou Art. Sydney Philharmonia’s 600-voice Christmas Choir fills the Sydney Opera House with joyous seasonal music and favourite carols you can sing along with. Hear highlights from Handel’s Messiah, O Holy Night, Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker suite, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.... and much more. Celebrate this Christmas with the splendour of JS Bach’s inspiring Christmas Oratorio at the Sydney Opera House. Hear Sydney Philharmonia Choirs’ virtuoso Chamber Singers along with a star cast of soloists and orchestra, all led by conductor Brett Weymark. The Christmas Oratorio is easily one of the most inspired musical enactments of the Nativity. For this concert, Brett Weymark has chosen the first three parts of this magnificent work, from the exultant opening to the tender scenes in the stable and the festive arrival of the shepherds. Enjoy lunch by the harbour before the matinee concert, or a drink and sunset afterwards.

Julie Lea Goodwin
Soprano Julie Lea Goodwin performs across opera, musical theatre, and classical cross-over. She has played Musetta in La Bohème and Maria in West Side Story for Opera Australia.
She performed opposite Anthony Warlow in Phantom of the Opera, and has sung as a soloist with many of Australia’s Symphony Orchestras. With Christmas in the air, she’ll be joining the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs for Carols at the House for two concerts on 15 and 16 December in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House. Julie Lea knew she wanted to be a performer from a very early age, and tells stories of singing to the horses on the family’s property out of Brisbane and enjoying the old Hollywood musicals on video. She charts her career from her remarkable early break as Christine in Phantom of the Opera, through making her debut with Opera Australia and singing with orchestras and ensembles around the country.
