Support sessions for applying for Advance HE Fellowship11-09-2023 | 13.00 -15.00 | Online This session will offer guidance for colleagues considering to apply for Associate Fellow (D1), Fellow (D2) or Senior Fellow (D3) through the Coventry University Framework for Professional Accreditation (CUFPA) CQEM training for studentsAttention course directors!! you're likely familiar with the Course Quality Enhancement & Monitoring (CQEM) process, a crucial mechanism that supports the development of a student-focused approach to course improvement. You can encourage your Student Representatives to reserve a spot in the upcoming CQEM Training session. This training is designed to provide them with the necessary guidance for crafting the Student Statement, an integral component of your interim or annual CQEM reports. Our ongoing series of training sessions is tailored to this specific purpose. During these sessions, student representatives will be guided through their roles and provided with a clear understanding of the expectations tied to their involvement in the CQEM process. To ensure attendance, kindly direct student reps to complete the CQEM training booking form. This training opportunity is open to all student representatives. When registering, please advise students to use their official student email addresses rather than personal email addresses. We are eagerly anticipating the chance to meet your students during the training sessions! ![]() Scholarly Practice and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning - a Community of PracticeIf you are interested in becoming a scholarly practitioner and getting involved with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, we would like to invite you to join Coventry University Group's Scholarly Practice and SoTL group. The group will aim to support colleagues becoming scholarly practitioners through dedicated training sessions, reading clubs and a supportive community. For those interested in engaging with SoTL, which is defined as "... going beyond scholarly teaching and involves systematic study of teaching and/or learning and the public sharing and review of such work through presentations, performance, or publications” (McKinney, 2004), the group will offer workshops and support on developing and establishing a SoTL profile. We will also be inviting external speakers and authors to share their SoTL experience and output with us. Curriculum Transformation Project With the new academic year upon us, the planning stage of the Curriculum Transformation Project is completed. The transformation of the Undergraduate curriculum at Coventry University is designed to offer students a more supportive and simpler structure for their studies, increasing pass rates and retention. Information for staff regarding changes to be aware of, including guidance on the new student “Course Hour”, Aula templates, Module Delivery templates plus much more can be found on the Staff Portal ![]() New Year, New Tools: Technology Transformation at CUG ![]() August saw the on-line delivery of the “New Year, New Tools: Technology Transformation at CUG” workshop, which outlined the status of new tools and technologies. Six separate workshops outlined different developments in Aula, Engageli and Inspera. Over 140 staff attended the workshop and feedback was excellent, with an overall satisfaction rating of 4.5 out of 5 and 100% of respondents wanting more of these types of sessions. (all of the individual sessions are located below the recording on the main screen) New Member of the Curriculum Development TeamWe are really pleased to announce that Misra Mohamed has joined us in the Curriculum Development Team in AEPD. Misra joins us from the University of West London and moved up to Coventry in August. Misra has a wealth of relevant experience, having previously taught in Malaysia, Ireland and the UK, delivered staff development training, generated research funding and disseminated her research outputs nationally and internationally. Misra said “I am really excited to be working here and looking forward to working with staff across the Coventry University Group”. ![]() L&T Chatshow PodcastErika Hawkes from AEPD joined Roger Saunders (De Monfort University) on a recent episode of the L&T Chatshow podcast. They discussed the remix cards Erika has used with dissertation students to help them re-write in different styles and genres in order to be able to reflect on their work from different perspectives, as well as to embrace creativity in their work.
