Student Success Stories

Congratulations to the following students!

RJ graduated on May 22 and brought his family in to see him receive acknowledgement by the class for his achievement. What a great role model he is to his son Noah! In addition to receiving his high school credential, RJ also got a new job and is pondering his options for a career in the automotive industry.

Safiya is interested in finding a remote job that would be flexible with hours to accommodate her time with her children at home. She and her career advisor discussed options for her to begin training programs in data analysis, administrative assistant work, and quality assurance. They discussed a number of options and Safiya decided she was interested in doing her training through Alison, a free online certificate program, and registered for multiple classes! She also started applying for positions that fit her needs through UpWork. Each Literacy Pittsburgh student has access to career advising and many opportunities are available even while students are waiting to start classes.

Matthew always loved to cook, as far back as he can remember. Pursuing his dream of making people happy with his cooking paid off last year, when he completed a culinary program and was promoted at his university food-service job.
Literacy Pittsburgh’s high-school equivalency program helped him get there. Great job, Matthew!

Share your success story with us! You can help inspire others who are overcoming barriers and working toward their goals. Email it to Najlaa at nebrahim@literacypittsburgh.org
