CEDRR Announces Support for Ukraine
There are times when silence says more than words. But it is words and courage that are now required. The Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region (CEDRR) has been outspoken in our support of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Because what we say and do matters, we support communities and institutions within our region that believe that the future requires that we open ourselves to new and diverse viewpoints and innovative ideas that will provide for safety and prosperity for our neighbors, both locally and nationally. We are one world, connected in ways that link all of us socially, economically, and spiritually. Silence can be deafening. CEDRR again chooses to be heard. We join a chorus of others in the world because we believe our eyes and ears provide us evidence of genocide that is taking place in Ukraine. What we are watching reminds us of the importance of supporting refugees from countries such as Syria, Afghanistan, and countries in sub-Saharan Africa and many other regions of the world. We watch a country, Ukraine, that struggles to preserve democracy and freedom, each of which we cherish and enjoy every day. We join with Governor Scott in his condemnation of aggression towards the citizens of
Ukraine – men, women, children, and the democracy they hold dear - and support deliberate and aggressive economic measures that will effectively target and positively influence the end of destruction and deliberate targeting of innocent civilians. Read more →
Technical Assistance Grant Applications Open to Vermont Small Businesses Impacted by COVID-19
The Regional Development Corporations (RDCs) of Vermont have been tapped as regional partners as part of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Community Navigator Pilot Program (CNPP) that will deliver technical assistance to small businesses to aid with business recovery from COVID-19 impacts. Vermont Small Business Development Center (VtSBDC) has been chosen as one of 51 grantees nationwide, to be part of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Community Navigator Pilot Program (CNPP). Using a "hub and spoke" model, VtSBDC is leveraging partnerships with trusted community-based organizations to reduce barriers that all small businesses —including those owned by disadvantaged groups such as veterans, women, BIPOC business owners, and those from rural communities—often face in accessing critical support. The program has signed up Vermont vendors to deliver technical assistance, including but not limited to: business operations; financial management; digital strategies; architecture and design; reconfiguring production processes and updating safety measures; technology and software consulting; and legal and professional services. Businesses requiring technical assistance register for the program, get matched to a service provider, and agree to a scope of work. Once the work is completed to the satisfaction of the client and program managers, the service provider is paid through the grant program. If you have a project in mind and already know the vendor you would like to work with, have them register now. Or, you can choose from the vendors that are already registered. This is a first-come, first-served program.
For more information on the program, to see if your business is eligible, or to sign up for the program go here, or reach out to Tyler Richardson at CEDRR for more information.

MINT Volunteer Day Success
Our recent Volunteer Day on March 5, 2022 was a fantastic event -- thanks to all who came out to support our projects, including installation of an upgraded dust collection system in our Wood Shop and inventory of our Refresh materials section and Tool Library. Stop by to see all we've been up to as we get closer to spring. Join us at The MINT for Clubs, informal sessions for members and makers who want to gather in a specific shop area to experiment, work on individual projects, troubleshoot a process or collaboratively think through creative problems. Inspired by our regularly offered Woodworking Club, you can now sign up for upcoming Pottery and Stained Glass Club sessions. We're also working on our spring class schedule -- stay tuned for more soon! Do you know how to make something? We're always looking to expand our instructor core, and you DO NOT have to be an expert. As an instructor, you'll have support form the shop leads, our Operations Director and our Education Coordinator. We can help you think about how to break down skills, plan your class, how much time to allocate to your project, and more. Plus, we pay $25 per hour and you work on your schedule! Interested in learning more? Let us know by submitting an Instructor Interest Form or by contacting us at info@rutlandmint.org today! Learn more about The MINT→
