Update: Online Casino Gambling Bill nearing final parliamentary stage

The Online Casino Gambling Bill continues to progress through Parliament and has now completed the Committee of the Whole House stage.

At this stage, Members of Parliament considered the Bill in detail and debated proposed amendments to its provisions. Only one change was made to the Bill regarding the administration of the community returns funding. Completion of the Committee of the Whole House marks an important milestone, confirming the Bill’s detailed framework ahead of its final consideration by the House.

The Bill will now proceed to its Third Reading, which is the final parliamentary debate. The Third Reading focuses on whether the House agrees to pass the Bill in its final form.  At this stage, no date has been set for the Third Reading and timing will be subject to parliamentary scheduling. If the Third Reading is agreed, the Bill will then move to Royal Assent, after which it will become law.

Alongside the legislative process, work continues to support readiness for implementation, including development of regulatory settings, guidance and future communications. We will continue to keep you well informed as further milestones are reached and details are confirmed.

Thank you for your continued interest and engagement. Further updates from us will be shared as the Bill progresses to its final stage.
