CEDRR August Mixer Hosted by Vermont Federal Credit Union on August 11
Join Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region (CEDRR) for our August Mixer, hosted by Vermont Federal Credit Union. This mixer will take place at the Rutland–Southern Vermont Regional Airport, located at 1200 Airport Road in Clarendon, on Tuesday, August 11, from 5:00–7:00 PM. Vermont Federal Credit Union serves the entire state of Vermont, and as part of their recently completed merger with Credit Union of Vermont, they’re excited to welcome Vermont Federal members to their Rutland branch.
We invite you to join us to learn more about Vermont Federal’s offerings, network with other community members, and enjoy food from the Rollin Rooster/The Cluckin' Cafe & Culinary Institute! Cape Air will be offering select flights over Rutland County for around 45 people - more details on flights will follow before the mixer. The Rutland Airport Business Park Committee will also share some updates, along with airport partners including Altitude Flight Training and Modern Aviation. Attendees will have the chance to test out a flight simulator and see some aircraft up close. We look forward to seeing you there!

Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region (CEDRR) and The Hub CoWorks invite you to come meet staff from the U.S. Small Business Administration Vermont District Office and learn more about how SBA can support your small business.
This event will be held on Monday, August 3 from 4:00-5:00 PM in the Workforce in Motion Streetside Conference Center at The Hub CoWorks, 67 Merchants Row, First Floor, Rutland, VT 05701.

StartUp Rutland Small Business Resource Mixer on August 27
StartUp Rutland, a program of Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region (CEDRR), will be hosting a Small Business Resource Mixer at The Hub CoWorks on Thursday, August 27 from 5:00-7:00 PM.
This mixer-style event aims to connect entrepreneurs and small business owners with the community resources that help a business to grow and thrive. Stop by the tables that matter most to your business and walk away with real answers, connections, and next steps. Over 30 resource stations will be on site, ranging from accounting to attorneys, financial institutions, marketing, website design, tech support, training, government agencies and more!

Vermont Chamber Post-Legislative Session Discussion Provided Important Updates
The Vermont Chamber of Commerce presented to a group of local business professionals on July 22 as part of a Post-Legislative Session Discussion. Amy Spear, President of the Vermont Chamber, and Kevin Chu, Executive Director of the Vermont Futures Project, highlighted key findings of the recently released 2025-2026 Legislative Biennium report. Megan Sullivan, Vice President of Government Affairs at the Vermont Chamber, covered legislative updates and outcomes from the most recent legislative session on issues including housing, land use, economic development, energy, education reform, healthcare, and other important topics being regularly debated and discussed in Montpelier.
The speakers also shared some insights into some proactive ideas the Vermont Chamber will be advocating for in September and beyond. CEDRR appreciates the opportunity to host this important discussion at The Hub CoWorks and share these insights with the Rutland County business community, and we are grateful to all who attended this session.

Subaru Share the Love® Donation Supports New Linear Accelerator at Rutland Regional Medical Center
Nothing is more powerful than love, especially when it is given away.
On Thursday, July 9, Oliver Subaru of Rutland donated $30,000 from the 2025 Subaru Share the Love® event to support the cost of the new Linear Accelerator in the Foley Cancer Center at Rutland Regional Medical Center (RRMC).
The Linear Accelerator (LINAC) is an advanced technology used to treat cancer by delivering targeted radiation directly to tumor sites. RRMC’s Foley Cancer Center currently provides more than 4,500 radiation treatments annually.
This year’s Subaru Share the Love donation is the result of months of promotion by Oliver Subaru and Subaru of New England. The Subaru Share the Love event runs annually from mid-November through early January, and with every new Subaru purchased or leased, Subaru donates $250 to select charities. Additionally, in 2026, Oliver Subaru donated $75 to RRMC for each sold or leased vehicle, as well as an additional $5 for every routine service visit during the Subaru Share the Love event.
“We continue to be grateful to Oliver Subaru for their ongoing generosity and support,” said Traci Moore, Senior Director of Development and Community Relations. "In addition to raising funds, the Subaru Share the Love campaign helps to generate awareness for the important programs and services RRMC provides in our local region."
Since being selected as a Subaru Share the Love beneficiary in 2017, RRMC has received more than $230,000 from the annual Subaru Share the Love event. These donations have supported new 3D breast imaging and nuclear medicine diagnostic equipment, upgrades to the hospital’s psychiatric services inpatient unit, palliative care services and the comfort suites for chronically or terminally ill patients, enhancements to the hospital’s Infusion Center, the acquisition of a new PET scanner, and most recently supported the cost of the new LINAC in the Foley Cancer Center at RRMC.

Business Resources and Growth Inventory Survey
The Vermont Department of Economic Development has been tasked by the General Assembly through S.327 to develop a “Business Resources and Growth Inventory Report.” As a part of this effort, stakeholder engagement will play an integral role in informing our research.
The Department of Economic Development has created a short survey to gain a better understanding of the needs of Vermont businesses. We expect that the survey will take approximately five minutes to complete.

Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging Announces 2026 Evidence-Based Wellness Grant Opportunity
Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging (SVCOA) is accepting applications for its 2026 Evidence-Based Wellness Grant Program, a funding opportunity that supports organizations providing proven health and wellness programs for older adults and family caregivers throughout Bennington and Rutland Counties.
As the designated Area Agency on Aging for southwestern Vermont, SVCOA is committed to empowering Vermonters to age with dignity, independence, and quality of life. Through this grant program, SVCOA will provide limited financial support to nonprofit and qualified for-profit organizations that deliver evidence-based health promotion and disease prevention programs. Priority will be given to programs serving older adults with the greatest economic and social need, including those who are at risk of institutional placement, live in rural communities, have limited English proficiency, or experience financial barriers to accessing services.
“Strong community partnerships are essential to helping older Vermonters remain healthy, active, and connected,” said Courtney Anderson, Director of Nutrition, Wellness and Community Services at SVCOA. “By investing in evidence-based wellness programs, we are expanding access to proven interventions that improve health outcomes and quality of life throughout our region.”
Evidence-based programs are research-tested interventions that have demonstrated measurable improvements in health, chronic disease self-management, fall prevention, physical activity, caregiver support, and overall wellness. Applications are due September 15, 2026. Organizations interested in applying can review the Request for Proposals (RFP), eligibility requirements, and application materials by visiting

Vermont Arts Council Artist Development Grants
The Vermont Arts Council is now accepting applications for its FY27 Artist Development Grants, which support artists at all stages of their careers.
Artist Development Grants fund activities that enhance mastery of an artist’s craft or skills or that increase the viability of an artist's business. Funding may also support aspects of the creation of new work when the activity allows the grantee to accept a rare and important opportunity. Grants are up to $2,000 and will be awarded by random draw. The grant is offered two times in the fiscal year. Application deadlines are below.

NSF Strive Funding Opportunities for Research and STEM Education
STRIVE provides accessible funding opportunities to strengthen Vermont’s research capacity and expand high-quality STEM education programming across the state. These programs support educators, researchers, schools, and community partners in developing innovative projects that build long-term STEM pathways and workforce readiness.
Funding is available through multiple tracks, including a $15,000 research and proof-of-concept grant (STaRS), a $2,500 K–12 and nonprofit mini-grant track (STEAD), and support for SBIR seed funding in partnership with the Vermont EPSCoR office. STRIVE also serves as a collaborative grant support resource, helping partners navigate and strengthen external funding applications.
