        Division of Cardiology welcomes new Administrator, Allie Crouch 
        
        
          
          
            
      
        The Department of Medicine is pleased to announce that Allison (Allie) J. Crouch will join the Division of Cardiology as the new division administrator, effective today, Monday May 20. As the administrator, Crouch will be responsible for all University-based division activities within the Division of Cardiology, including development and administration of University/SOM budgets, financial analysis, grants and contracts, faculty compensation and recruitment, faculty practice operations at Grady, space management, and human resources management. 
        
        
          
        
            
      
        Crouch is not new to Emory University or the School of Medicine, she comes to the Department of Medicine from the Dean’s Office of Strategic Initiatives team where she managed multiple projects supporting the academic, education, and research missions of the SOM with a focus on building an innovation platform. Before joining the School of Medicine, Crouch served as the Director of Operations & Strategic Planning for Atlanta’s Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival (CARES) Program, a non-profit research program and technology platform based out of Emory University.   
        
        
          
        
            
      
        Attention colleagues! DOM Health Equity Day (HED), is taking place TOMORROW, Tuesday, May 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It's not too late to register! This half-day conference, organized by DOM's RYSE and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council, aims to raise awareness and encourage action around the systemic health 
disparities that exist across racial, ethnic, cultural, and social groups while also recognizing interventions and research centered on health equity and historically underrepresented groups in medicine.  The year's theme is Empowering Emerging Voices and our keynote will be presented by three emerging leaders in their fields, Lashyra Nolen, Jennifer Tsai, MD, MEd, and Darshali Vyas, MD. Click the buttons below to learn more!

        We hope you are ready! Diversity and Inclusion Week will take place today through Friday. Emory SOM has created an exciting program for you anchoring on the theme "From Being To Belonging". Throughout the week, attendees can expect engaging sessions such as:  
        
        
          
        
            
      
        Health Equity Day:  In collaboration with the Department of Medicine RYSE (DEI) team, this event will bring together stakeholders from across the institution, providing a platform to share compelling new findings, facilitate scientific exchange, and identify opportunities for collaboration. Cornerstone of Care Delivery and Engagement: Members of the Emory Healthcare diversity, equity, and inclusion leaders' network will engage in insightful discussions and share best practices. They will explore how our collaborative efforts across the SOM and clinical sites are driving meaningful progress. DEI Department Leadership Session: DEI leads from across SOM departments will highlight their programmatic and/or individual-level initiatives. Closing Keynote: Breakfast with Dean Wong: Dean Wong will answer your questions and speak on her experiences in mentorship, health disparities, and the importance of continuing DEI work as we journey ahead.  
 Sessions throughout the week will showcase the exceptional DEI initiatives led by the community throughout the year, cultural activities, an art gallery, a SOM block party, and much more.

         Emory Division of Hospital Medicine hosts thefirst annual National Teaching Invitational
 
        
        
          
          
            
      
        On Tuesday, May 7, the Emory Division of Hospital Medicine (EDHM) hosted their first ever National Teaching Invitational competition. Modeled after EDHM’s own Teaching Competition, where early career hospitalists from each EDHM site vie for the coveted EDHM Teaching Competition Trophy, six contestants brought their educational “A” games to duel for the first national title.  
        
        
          
        
            
      
        For the national invitational (as for EDHM’s own event), a theme is assigned each year by the Competition Committee, and speakers select their topic from a provided list. In addition to Emory, represented by Emory University Hospital’s own Michael Jones, MD, (the winner of the 2024 EDHM competition), participating schools also included Duke University, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Colorado, Vanderbilt University, and Washington University in St. Louis. Garber, MD, PhD, MACE, Lectureship for the Prevention and Management of the Complications of Diabetes from the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE)!  The AACE annual awards recognize the extraordinary accomplishments and exceptional 
contributions of individuals from the endocrinology community in the areas of clinical excellence, education and research, public health, medical ethics, technological innovations, medical advancements, community involvement, individual accomplishments, and more.         The process of receiving Medicine Grand Rounds CME has recently changed. CME credit will no longer be assigned by completing the survey. As of Tuesday, March 5, 2024, Medicine Grand Rounds, the Department of Medicine will use Emory's CME Tracker for CME credits.  Please note, that claiming your CME credit is TIME 
SENSITIVE. You must text within seven business days of the CME presentation.  Have questions or need assistance?
