We're on the countdown to the holiday season... and things certainly haven't slowed down here at AlburyCity!

We're looking forward to you joining us at upcoming events across our city, telling you about exciting new projects, and giving you more opportunities to have your say on the initiatives and projects that are important to you.

From all of us here at Council, we wish you a fantastic and safe holiday season.

Mayor Kylie King and Deputy Mayor Steve Bowen join us from the Christmas tree in QEII Square to send their Christmas wishes, reflect on the achievements of the past year, and thank everyone in our community for your support.

Season's Greetings

With the year drawing to a close, it’s a great time to reflect on our achievements during another challenging year. Whilst we’ve all had to look after our health and safety due to COVID-19, storms and flooding have also been challenges that we’ve faced together.

JD Smith from The Ten Tenors will make his return to his hometown of Albury to headline the Carols, supported by an array of local talent including our very own homegrown vocalists and dancers. Join the festivities in QEII Square from 6pm on Wednesday 21 December.

Located within the Albury Waste Management Centre, our new Material Recovery Facility will recycle up to 80% of construction and demolition material, diverting it away from landfill. We're aiming to have it up and running by the end of 2023.

Leading the way

This year's Summer Place, titled Re/place Pavilion, explores circular design thinking, and utilises cutting-edge technologies and recycled materials to illuminate creative solutions to construction waste. Check it out now until March next year.

Following the signing of our new Two Cities One Community Partnership Agreement, we asked you to review your priorities and aspirations for the Albury Wodonga region to see what has changed. Your feedback helped us develop a new Strategic Plan, and we want to hear from you to make sure hit we've hit the mark!

Stronger together

We're counting down the days until the Sydney Thunder host the Hobart Hurricanes at Lavington Sports Ground New Years Eve! There’ll even be opportunities for our kids to meet their heroes and get autographs after the match - so don't forget to secure your tickets for the chance to see your idols play live.

Smash it for six

Albury is a diverse and multicultural community, with around 12.5% of our residents born overseas. We've developed our first Multicultural Plan, to ensure that everyone choosing to make a home in our city feels welcome and has access to equal opportunities. Let us know what you think!

Celebrating diversity

The grandstand at our recently redeveloped Lavington Sports Ground needs a name! We're proposing to name it after local legend Col Donnolley for his significant involvement with the sports ground in its early days, as well as his tireless effort and commitment to developing local sport. Let us know your thoughts.

Thank a legend

To help ensure our team members in education and compliance roles feel safe performing their duties, our Rangers will now be fitted with Personally Worn Surveillance Devices. The devices will operate in stand-by mode, only recording when Rangers believe their safety is threatened or when negative behaviour is witnessed.

Safety first
