Law Society Annual General Meeting - Wednesday 22 April 2026
The Law Society of Jersey Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 22 April 2026.
Date: 22 April 2026
Time: 4.00pm
Venue: Ogier, 44 Esplanade, St Helier
To achieve a quorum, a minimum of 37 Ordinary Members must be in attendance at the AGM.
The convening papers will be issued on 1 April 2026.
Election of Officers and Committee of the Law Society of Jersey
In accordance with the provisions of The Law Society of Jersey Law 2005 and The Law Society of Jersey Bye-Laws 2018, the election of Officers and Committee of the Law Society takes place at the Annual General Meeting.
This year's AGM will be held on Wednesday 22 April 2026 at 4pm at the offices of Ogier (Jersey) LLP, 44 Esplanade, St Helier.
Whilst all current Officers and Committee Members are currently expected to stand for re-election for the forthcoming year, nominations are invited in respect of all Officer and Committee positions.
The Committee comprises:
• President
• Secretary
• Treasurer
• Development Officer
• 4 Committee Members
Members will recall that, at the 2025 AGM, it was agreed that the composition of the Committee would be increased by two Ordinary Members with effect from the 2026 AGM, subject to amended Bye-Laws being approved by the Superior Number of the Royal Court. However, in light of an ongoing review of membership categories and practising rights, which will necessitate changes to the Bye-Laws and Code of Conduct, the Committee has decided to defer the proposed changes to the Bye-Laws (which provided for expansion of Committee membership) for a further year, by which time the reviews and consequential amendments to the Bye-Laws and Code of Conduct will have been completed.
The Bâtonnier and President of the Chambre des Ecrivains are ex-officio members of the Committee.
In the event of more than one nomination for any Officer position or more than four nominations for the Committee positions, a contested election will take place.
Nominations should be sent to the CEO of the Law Society by 4pm on Friday 27 March 2026.
Click Nominations to download the nomination form.

SHOUT OUT for VOLUNTEERS (particularly for anyone in a knowledge team)
The Judicial Greffe would like to publish procedural guidance for litigants in person on the courts.je site.
Initially the plan is to look at Royal Court civil procedure and to refocus some existing material onto those matters which are directly relevant to litigants in person, to update it, put it into plain English, and then bolster it with videos and templates.
The aim is not only to ensure that a litigant in person understands the process, but also to signpost them to information resources, to legal advice and to ADR.
Once we have a digital information pack for Royal Court civil cases, the plan would be to build on it in other areas and by enhancing the type of material available.
This project to improve access to justice for litigants in person is being led by the Master and both he, and the Judicial Greffe, would be very grateful for any offers of assistance, no matter how limited.
If you would like to help, or would like more information, please email the Master – d.cadin@courts.je.
Use of Royal Court Entrances
The Chief Usher to the Royal Court has respectfully requested that all members enter and exit only via the main security reception.
The rear door to/from Hill Street is not to be used under any circumstances.
Launch of Digital Registration Cards – Simplifying Verification for Employers, Landlords, and Legal Representatives
The Employment, Social Security and Housing team of the Government of Jersey is pleased to announce that registration cards are now available in a convenient digital format, making it easier for you to verify a person’s residential and employment status.
Individuals can apply for a digital registration card via their onegov account and can share the card with you via email. This will include a secure link that allows you to verify the digital card directly with their system. Once verified, you’ll have the option to download a copy for your records, helping you stay compliant with the Control of Housing and Work (Jersey) Law.
This new online process will improve security, reduce paperwork, and save time – for more information please visit www.services.gov.je
