One Big Week

The One Big Week race is on.

Penn State is competing with its Big Ten rivals to raise as much support for students as possible before the clock runs out. Penn Staters can join in with a gift to combat student hunger between now and September 7—and all gifts will benefit students across all Commonwealth campuses.

Let’s show that “We Are” is more than just a chant: onebigweek.psu.edu

Student Welcome Day

Student Welcome Day

Rainy weather couldn't stop us—we had a great time welcoming our incoming students during the Student Welcome Day on Sunday, August 21! Students attended an involvement fair, where representatives from the Eberly College of Science Alumni Society Board distributed information about the Mentor Program.

You can make an impact on a student's life by becoming a mentor. Mentors serve as guides to students, answering questions, giving advice, and helping them to learn more about their field of interest and about themselves. Learn more and register to mentor a student.

Announcing the new Eberly College of Science LinkedIn page

The Office of Communications is excited to announce the launch of the college’s public LinkedIn presence!

Our new company page will provide opportunities to engage with new audiences (especially alumni), while also serving as a recruitment tool and potential thought-leadership space and acting as a “front door” to the college’s existing private group, where we will be working with key stakeholders throughout the college to grow and strengthen active engagement with our students and alumni through professional and career development–focused discussions.

An added bonus—all employees and alumni can now add the college’s official page to their LinkedIn profiles.

Be sure to follow us, and stay tuned for more updates to come!

Amine Benkiran and David Nieves received funding from the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence to support their work, “The Evolution and Growth of the Mathematics Learning Assistants Program at The Pennsylvania State University.”

This is fantastic recognition of the important work the math department is doing in supporting student learning, and of the impact of the Eberly College of Science Learning Assistant Program, led by Jennelle Malcos and supported by the Center for Excellence in Science Education.
