Finding Your VoiceWelcome to Meee Moments #80 This month, we’re exploring the theme of VOICE, not just the one we speak with, but the one we live by. Your voice is your truth, your story, your essence. It’s how you express who you are, what you believe, and what matters most. But so often, life quiets our voice, through doubt, fear, or simply busyness. So this month, take a moment to pause and listen: Whether it’s through writing, speaking, creating, or simply being, your voice matters, and the world is better when we hear it. Here’s to finding it, using it, and honouring the voices around us. The image above is Alan Carr as a schoolboy — long before he found his voice on stage!
#65 Paul Pook Podcast – There’s Always Hope! The more I listen to stories like Paul Pook’s, the more I realise how powerful it is when someone turns pain into purpose. This deeply moving and honest conversation with Paul — CEO and founder of Tackle 360 and Tackle Suicide — is a reminder that even in our darkest moments, hope can still find a way through. Paul shares how rugby gave him self-esteem and belonging after a difficult childhood, and how a career in elite sport eventually collided with hidden brain injuries, depression, and years of suicidal thoughts. With extraordinary courage, he speaks about living with disrupted emotional circuitry, the impact of concussion, and the long road back to himself. What makes this episode so special is not just Paul’s vulnerability — it’s his compassion. Out of his own struggle, he created Tackle Suicide, an initiative dedicated to prevention, connection, and reminding people that they are not alone. As Paul so beautifully shows us, healing isn’t linear. It’s about reaching in, staying connected, and believing that tomorrow can be different from today. And when asked to describe himself in one word, Paul chose: “Grateful.” Wow. That says everything. Thank you, Paul, for your honesty, your courage, and for reminding us all that there is always hope. And speaking of voices that take courage to find... The image at the header of this months Meee Moments shows Alan Carr as a young schoolboy, a boy who was bullied at school for being different and who didn’t fit the “footballer’s son” mould expected of him. Alan grew up as the son of Graham Carr, a professional footballer and manager, yet he didn’t share his father’s passion for sport. At school in Northampton, he was mocked for being rubbish at sports and for his love of reading and drama — interests that felt out of step with his surroundings. Rather than shrinking away, Alan found his voice through creativity and comedy. He turned those early experiences — the bullies, the awkwardness, and the sense of not quite fitting in — into material that shaped his career. Today he’s one of Britain’s best-loved comedians, with hit shows, TV success, and the semi‑autobiographical sitcom Changing Ends, which reflects his own story of growing up and finding confidence in being himself. Alan’s journey reminds us that finding your voice doesn’t always follow the expected path, sometimes it’s forged through challenge, creativity, and being unapologetically you. If you’ve ever felt like you don’t quite fit in... that might just be your superpower. Maybe you’re not meant to. Maybe your voice isn’t here to echo others, but to say something new. Be bold. Be different. Be real. The world needs your voice, exactly as it is. And if you’re struggling to find yours, we’d love to hear from you: voice@meee.global
Finding Your Voice with Making Mary Poppins The story behind Mary Poppins isn’t just about flying umbrellas or spoonfuls of sugar. It’s also a powerful reminder of what can happen when people find their voice and use it to bring magic to life. In the book Making Mary Poppins, we learn how Walt Disney brought together the extraordinary talents of the Sherman Brothers, Richard and Robert, to craft one of the most iconic musicals in film history. But it wasn’t just about catchy songs. The Sherman Brothers, each with their own struggles and perspectives, found a shared voice through music, expressing joy, sadness, hope, and imagination in a way that resonated across generations. Disney himself believed in giving creative people the space to explore, and through collaboration, conflict, and perseverance, Mary Poppins became more than a movie, it became a voice for wonder, belonging, and the transformative power of love.
Making Mary Poppins reminds us that finding your voice isn’t always loud, sometimes it’s found in lyrics, in melody, in being different, and in daring to tell a story no one else can. Take a Minute this month to ask yourself: Because the world needs more honest, heartfelt storytelling.
The Clues to a Great Story Filmmaker Andrew Stanton, the creative force behind Toy Story, Finding Nemo and WALL‑E, gave a brilliant TED Talk called “The Clues to a Great Story.” In it, he shares what he’s learned about storytelling from decades of crafting films that resonate across generations. For Stanton, storytelling isn’t just about entertainment, it’s about connection and meaning. Great stories make us feel, make us care, and affirm who we are. He talks about knowing your ending first, making the audience care, and even inviting them to “work” for the meaning, because real stories are active and engaging. What this all points to, whether you’re writing a movie or living a life, is that our voice is our story. The clearer you understand your inner goals and truths, the more vividly your story unfolds, and the more it connects with others. This month, consider how your own choices, values and experiences shape your narrative, the one only you can tell.
What if you gave yourself permission to speak — not louder, but truer? The My Meee app is here to help you do just that. With reflective tools, mood tracking, and gentle prompts, it offers a space to tune in — to the voice you’ve quietened, the dreams you’ve shelved, and the clarity that comes from really listening to yourself. Because your voice matters. Not the polished one. The honest one. This season, let it rise. Let it guide you. Let it be heard, by you, first. Let the My Meee app support your journey to finding your voice — one breath, one word, one choice at a time. Every moment is an invitation to speak up, not to be the loudest, but to be the truest.
