ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL??Join us at the Park District Community Center on
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH for the 209th meeting of the
Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers!
Doors will open at 11 a.m. so you can get comfy and settled by kick-off time. Feel free to bring your own comfy chair (we will have padded banquet chairs), your favorite game day snacks and beverages, and root on your team with your friends and neighbors on a 75" TV. We have plenty of refrigerator space available if you need it. TOYS FOR TOTS: We are collecting new, unwrapped toys for the U.S. Marine Corp. Reserves
program. Feel free to bring a toy and drop it in the box located in the building. Just some fun facts about the teams: History: The rivalry began in 1921 and has been renewed annually in all but two seasons since then. The Bears held the winning record for many decades, but the Packers surpassed them in 2017. Current record: The Packers lead the series 107–95–6. Recent games: The Bears have lost 10 straight games to the Packers, last winning in 2018. They've also lost eight consecutive games at Lambeau Field, last winning in 2015. Notable games: The Packers beat the Bears 21-14 in the 2010 NFC Championship Game, which earned them a berth to
Super Bowl XLV. Streaks: The Packers are undefeated against the Bears since head coach Matt LaFleur took over prior to the 2019 season. They also have a nine-game winning streak over the Bears, which is tied for the third-longest win streak over a single opponent in team history.

Warren Township Highway Department
Annual Fall Leaf CollectionOur annual leaf collection program began the week of Monday, October 21, 2024, and will run through the week beginning Monday, December 2, 2024 - for all residents living within the jurisdiction of Warren Township Highway Department (5-digit addresses) in unincorporated Warren Township We
are very excited to start our Fall Leaf Collection Program with our new provider Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS). Your leaves will be collected by LRS, which will make seven trips along each street. Once the vacuum truck makes its final run in your neighborhood, it will not return to collect additional leaves. LRS makes every effort to collect leaves along each roadway every week. However, factors such as poor weather or large volumes may slow down the collection process. If you have any questions, please call the Warren Township Highway Department at 847-244-1101, Ext. 301. To view a map of the Fall Leaf Collection schedule please click here. Important Notice for Vacuum Service UsersResidents who opt for the vacuum service should be aware that leaf collection may not be completed during the scheduled week due to various factors: - High Volume: If the volume of leaves is larger than anticipated in a particular area.
- Weather Conditions: Inclement weather, such as rain, snow, or freezing temperatures, may delay collection.
In such cases, LRS will prioritize completing the affected areas before moving to the next scheduled zone. We appreciate your patience and understanding during the leaf collection process. If you
have any questions, please call the Warren Township Highway Department at 847-244-1101, ext. *301. GuidelinesLeaves should: - Be raked to the curb, beginning at the edge of the pavement and be no more than 5 feet in width.
- Not block
culverts or storm sewer openings, which could pose a drainage problem in heavy rains or snow.
- Not include other debris such as cans, paper, rocks, logs, brush or construction material as they could damage equipment and cause injury to the crew.
Snow RemovalThe Highway Department plows approximately 70 miles of Warren Township roads, including: - Centerline roads
- Cul-de-sacs
- Dead-end streets
The Illinois Department of Transportation plows state roads, including Routes: - 21 (Milwaukee Avenue)
- 41
- 45
- 120 (Belvidere Road)
- 132 (Grand Avenue)
Lake County Division of Transportation maintains county roads, including: - Gages Lake Road
- Hunt Club Road
- Stearns School Road
- Washington Street
Tips to Reduce Problems When It Snows- Please do not shovel or blow snow back into the street after it has been plowed and salted. Snow that is deposited on the street can refreeze and cause hazardous
conditions for you or your neighbors.
- When it starts to snow, park your vehicle off the street. This protects it from being plowed in. It also prevents receiving a ticket and being towed.
- Check that your mailbox and post are in good repair and that they are behind the curb, not leaning out over the street.
- If there is a fire hydrant in front of your home, clear the snow around it. It is there for your protection and that of your neighbors.
- Please remove portable basketball hoops from the right-of-way. The Township is not responsible for damages that occur during snow removal operations.
- Please place garbage and recycling bins on the apron of the driveway. These bins are not to be placed on the roadway as they become hazards for plow drivers.
Over the years, we have had many different variations of a summer/fall fest for the Grandwood Park Park District residents. It is important for us to make this event as inviting to as many residents as possible, while still maintaining fiscal responsibility. If you have suggestions or feedback on the 2024 Fall Rugby Fest or summer/fall fest events going forward, please let us know. You may contact us by email at parkdistrict@grandwoodpark.net or by
telephone at 847-356-0008. Thank you in advance for your feedback.
Daylight Saving Time ends on
Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 2:00 A.M. On Saturday night, clocks are set back 1 hour (i.e., gaining one hour) to “fall back.”
Adopt-a-Highway November 2, 2024
10am
CALLING FOR VOLUNTEERS to participate in our next Adopt-a-Highway clean-up. This one is scheduled for Saturday, November 2nd beginning at 10am. The park district has partnered with Lake County to maintain Hutchins Rd. from Stearns School Road to Grand Avenue. Per our agreement, we get a volunteer crew together twice a year to clean-up along the sides of the road. It usually only takes an hour. This is a great way for students to earn community service hours! Lake County supplies safety vests, and the park district supplies the bags and pick-up tools. If you have a pair of work gloves, feel free to bring them. Water will be available to all volunteers. If you have an hour and would like to help out, please contact Leslie Cassidy in the park district office by email at parkdistrict@grandwoodpark.net, or by telephone at 847-356-0008.
